X6 3.5 Resonator Removal?
Has anyone removed their resonator on their X6 3.5? If so did you replace with a straight through muffler or straight pipe? I'm trying to increase sound just a small amount. I know that's very subjective. I think a straight pipe may cause a drone or be too raspy.
Thanks much. |

Mine was removed when I change the 35i exhaust tip to 50i exhaust tip. I realized there is some "loss" in the low end torque and there is turbo lag now. I am not doing anything now until some good suggestion comes.

Removal complete. The resonator is about 12-14 inches long, 6-8 inches wide and both pipes go straight through, no baffles, and are NOT joined in any way.
I had an X pipe installed to equalize pressure ahead of the muffler. Since I'm running a Supersprint street muffler, still relatively quiet, I was hoping for a little more volume. Perhaps a got a little bit. I guess the best part is I've shed about 10 pounds. |

Also, you've both removed the OEM resonator, replaced it with an aftermarket one and also added an x-pipe right? |

eg3,
Correct, stock muffler removed, replaced with Supersprint street muffler. I'm 98% sure it's 2.25 inch piping. Below is a link to what we put in. I didn't do the work personally. There's not a lot of room to play with under there. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8448 |
