Why'd You Buy Your BMW? Part 2
What's going on everyone? So I started this thread on the e90post and it was pretty successful. I realize this forum doesn't have much activity so I'm trying to use innovative ways to change that.
As the title states "why'd you buy your BMW?" So I'll start and if anyone wants to right after to keep this going it should be another success. Why: Whelp I bought this BMW because I previously owned 2 and I enjoyed every bit of them from the performance, luxury style and aftermarket part options. So knowing how BMW was I figured the X5 would do me justice as my previous e90/92s did just a bigger form thereof. Great space as we all know for these vehicles, still picks up for a SUV, and aftermarket parts are becoming more available I had a Range Rover which sucked on gas and this SUV is pretty great for the MPG I do get for just being a 3.0L which I found impressive still

Im glad you like your x5 personally, i decided to buy a 328i for my wife 2 months ago since she makes good money now with her business and she was really bored of riding that manual mazda 3 lol. what an upgrade i must say!! i loved it so bad I decide to get rid of my toyota sienna 4 cylinders...yeah i drove a 4 cylinder sienna for 5 years lol. I was about to trade it in for a new subaru wrx and at the last minute, found a 2011 x6 with 40000kilometer ( about 25000 miles) for 30k$ canadian money. let me tell you, what a deal, couldnt resist, drove 3 hours away to give a deposit and am I glad I did!! i love the x6, though the 328i feels better in every way, i just love the look of the x6! but in all honesty, the 328 is a beast compared to the x6, i only have the 35i. the x6 feels heavy and the handling and steering feels heavy too. But all in all, very happy with it |

I bought mine because xdrive50i seems heavenly. I didn't know they had these motors until I found my e70. Nice to have this kind of truck for the money of most other SUV's. I don't think I will see to many going down the road, especially not V8TT trucks.

I bought mine because I wanted 4x4 and something that could tow 5000#. Also wanted something that wasn't massive and could still get out of its own way. Always loved the look and wanted some muscle too.
Was looking at Jeep Grand Cherokee but could not bring myself to own another Chrysler. Also considered a VW Touareg but they were pretty gutless. Love the features it has, love the V8. It's been in the woods a couple times, on a frozen lake and hauled my ATV's to the mud hole a few times. I'd buy another if I totaled it tomorrow. |

That's a pretty solid reason there about these SUVs with towing and the multiple uses it can do. Sounds like you really make good use out of yours when some people leave their E70s in the garages and rive strictly on the streets

As I tell my wife, we are just rich enough to have nice enough things to make us remember how poor we are. I got my X5 about $5k under what I saw comparable ones selling for, witch was at the very tippy top of my budget, so thats the reason why, I didn't even price out M's. Plus my X has 18s, so no crazy tire prices, or super huge crazy brakes to maintain, so things along those lines.

before I was married I got my first BMW a E90 335 09 fully loaded. Fun car but I wanted to do lots of mods so after looking into what I wanted to do I traded it in. Went for E90 m3 2010 awesome ride that's the only car I've owned where I loved it stock. Second child on the way got out of the big monthly payment M3 got a E90 335 diesel. lots of Florida runs awesome highway MPG
Then we welcomed our second child into the world and the 335D had to go needed Realestate (space for the children n stuff) Now my little ones are older so out with the minivan and HELLO E70 X5 Awesomeness!!!!! |

Good story man, clearly you made great family decisions and also came back to the bmw world after the minivan. I always liked the E90 M3s personally, I had a buddy when I was in Florida that had one which was pretty sick. I did the 1M bumper on my e90 335i so side by side you can see the difference of his M3 and my 335i. If it wasn't for him, most people would assume I had a M3 rep bumper lol it was annoying!

and that's one of the reasons I went M3 you'd have to spend lots of money to get a 335 to look and perform like an M3 plus the possibility of repair costs. in the end I parted ways with the best car I've owned... and I've owned lots But my e70 is just about the right balance of vehicle for me right now. BMW is the absolute best regarding aesthetics, performance, reliability and value
I did the early e70 x5m wheel's, I have KV3's waiting to go on.... also the diesel intake mod |

But the turbos spooling is soooooo addictive versus the NA though even if that purr sounds good from ANY BMW exhaust lol
I like the E70, definitely post some pics up before and after your KV installs. I did ST's on my other bmws and I was quite pleased honestly, I know quite a bit of people on here are doing the H&R springs with very little complaint Quote:

the M3's growl with the popping and clicking of the V8 is awesome too. The x5m was a strong contender however repair costs on a used M. I did not want to go blindly into a used ride... if I were going the CPO warranty route from a dealer then I would have. X5M's from a BMW dealer in the North East are generally two years old and still very pricey$$$$$
so with that in mind I feel the reliability of the 6 is better for long term operation |

Ever since X5 (SAV) was introduced back in late 90s (1999) if I’m not mistaken I always liked that particular model of BMW. I have been driving VWs (sedans) all my life until 4 years ago when I finally decided to switch to BMW “SUV”, I had only one car in mind and that was X5.
I bought 2011 X5 35i in November of 2013 and overall it was a good car but after owning it for couple of years car started having some issues (drivetrain, transmission, AC etc.,) I decided it was time to change that’s how I ended up with 2013 X5M in December of 2015. Despite some personal issues at that time it was an impulse buy Not sure what’s going to come next and when but so far its great car to drive but also very expensive to own. Even if I'll end up selling my M and not getting another BMW I still gonna have great memories! |

Started off in 2003 with the 740 since I wanted a nice traveling car, the 335 was to replace my daily driver which died and the X5d was just for giggles.
I still have them all per my sig. Bought BMW since MB supposedly has no soul, Lexus drives like a Toyota although a really nice one and could never find the right Audi when I was looking. The Audi drives really nicely but is definitely softer feeling than the BMW's I think the X4 drives like crap, didn't feel like a BMW at all. It felt like it was going all over the place and it was a brand new loaner.

I've owned several BMW's over the years. My most recent daily driver was a 2011 1M which I drove for almost 4 years. I also tracked it and loved every minute. But when I realized used 1M's were going for new 1M prices, I sold it and purchased a dedicated track car. With a non-street legal car, I needed a trailer and a tow vehicle. I just couldn't see myself in a PU or a big lumbering SUV. A friend mentioned the X5M so I investigated. Although pricey new, used examples were pretty reasonable. In 2015 I picked up a 2011 with 60k miles. And an extended warranty, which paid for itself 3x over. What a fantastic all-around vehicle. It does everything well. Vicious power and speed. Great handling. The biggest brakes BMW makes. It tows with ease. And has plenty of cargo space. And when my miata breaks, which is more often than I'd like, I put the X5M on track. Bone stock with just race brake fluid and it holds it's own. I've driven it on 6 different race tracks.
When the extended warranty on the X5M was nearing expiration, I began a search for a new tow vehicle. I was worried about keeping my 90K+ mile X5M without a warranty. Again, there was nothing comparable for what I wanted to spend. So I jumped back into the XM platform. 2012 X6M with 40k miles and an extended warranty. Same color and options. Let the good times roll. |
