‘Some’ - let’s be honest, the G80 (front in particular) was near universally disliked. As was the iXM. As were many other recent designs. And don’t give throw me the ‘it’s growing on me’ comments. It shouldn’t have to ‘grow’ on people. It should wow people out of the gate.

To point to a car designer that excellels at car design, it’s very rare that Ferrari release any car that people immediately say ‘that’s ugly… but I’m sure it’ll grow on me’. Yet, they take risks and they innovate. It’s not about pining for past designs, it’s about having an eye for beauty and not making something butt ugly (I jest).

I’m not after an E46 2, I’m just after something that doesn’t have to ‘grow on me’.

I understand your point. The best BMW generation was the F series like F13.

Far from being the best looking EV in the market, it’s not terrible but it’s not beautiful either.

Audi SQ8 e-tron with the black optic package looks absolutely fantastic and looks like a normal car.

The new Porsche Macan is beautiful, elegant and clean in it’s styling (no surprise because Porsche).

Even Rivian’s new R2 & R3 look clean for a boxier futuristic take on EV styling.

I do enjoy seeing more & more brands competing in the EV space though which gives more options to consumers to buy what suits them most.

I think what you meant to say is that you wished people would buy smaller cars, which they won't in America. Have you seen the size of American humans these days?

If they want to give it a retro look that's fine, but why do they have to extend the kidneys up into the hood? That isn't retro and only makes it look disjointed.

Hope the i3 version will incorporate the same grill that’s on this iX3. The sedan concept was cool but it needs that smaller grill this Neue Klasse X concept has.

Have to say BMW will be in trouble if Rivian starts making cars.

I didn't like this styling at all based on the early front photos but this angled photo showing the whole car looks a lot better.

In general I dont like ANY SUV styling and that includes this, but it'll be interesting to see a small sedan or coupe based on this. Sort of reminds me of an E30. I'm probably not the consumer they're going after but I'd love a modern turbo I6 6MT e30 throwback car.

I kind of like it. Everyone keeps complaining about the grills getting bigger, this one is smaller and still complaints

I am talking about the full view just added to the thread. The only thing I think is off a bit is the lower part of the bumper seems off to me.

But the face itself I think is pretty good.

Wow that's quite a reaction.
Rivian isn't making any money at all. Losing more with every car they sell. Any for-profit company who doesn't make any profit at a timeframe that it was previously planning to make profit, is objectively in trouble.

So Rivian is in serious trouble. They probably won't exist when this ix3 is renewed, unless acquired by some other company.

You’re spreading FUD.

Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt…

Your first problem is you’re reading yahoo news!

Rivian has deep investors… It takes time to build up to scale.

I agree with this 100%. My main reason for not buying an EV was the awful iPad glued to the center. I want a cockpit with gauges. I do not want pleather seats. Most of this was prepubescent dreams made reality but don’t really work that well. If BMW goes that route, there would be no Neue Klasse for me.

I don't 'read' yahoo news, it's just that this link was handy. But it doesn't matter where you look. You can look at Rivian's Q4 report, you'd see the same, as Rivian themselves reported that they've lost more than $5B.
I'm not spreading "FUD", there is no uncertainty nor doubt that Rivian is in big trouble. And why the hell there would be 'fear' for the demise of such an insignificant company. Only the investors care.
