Thumbs down Doing the insurance shopping dance...

Policy renewal time. I now remember why I stopped doing this every 6 months/once a year just to keep the companies honest.

I know what you mean. I'm always under the impression that loyalty "should" make a difference, rather than bouncing around from one company to another every year. But I'm sure they don't care. But I deal with a broker, so the onus is on them to look for the best deal every year at renewal.

BTW, what is it with 6 month coverage in the US? In Montreal, policies are for 1 year. Down in Florida, Progressive insists on 6 month policies. Is it like this everywhere in the states?

The 6 month thing seems to be the norm these days. It used to be annual.

As far as the dance goes, it pisses me off. I've had progressive for years. I don't like to change insurance companies or banks. Anyway, I had called them a few times to see about getting a cheaper rate after I was with them for a few years and never got anywhere. I called around and got a rate from another company, called Progressive and they reduced me by some ridiculous amount. I was happy but pissed at the same time. All of a sudden because I threatened to leave they were able to put me in a different category? BS...

Yeah, I've been with progressive for a while. Clicking through the online quoting of the other "biggies" is frustrating.

What vehicle do you have?
* picks X6 from drop down
What model?
* 35i, no other options

Another frustrating thing is trying to get a quote for multiple cars and homeowner insurance under one policy often requires talking to multiple people. I don't have time for that and wish more systems were automated.

Might call progressive and see what happens.

don't bother calling progressive. I can tell you what happens. You get put on hold for 40 minutes because your call is "valuable" then you get someone with attitutde. Shop around they aren't loyal to you nor should you be loyal to them,

I have progressive commercial insurance for my X5M/200 Ford F-450 through progressive and I'm shopping.

I'm used to amica who always answers the phone.

I have never waited on hold for Progressive more than a few minutes, nor have I ever encountered someone with an attitude.

Not saying OP shouldn't shop around, just saying my experience with Progressive has not been the same as yours.
