X5 twin turbo bolt on 3.0d
Are all the M57 engines pretty much the same long engine?
Can i buy a 3.0d say 2008 model long engine and bolt the stuff off an 2008 SD onto it. |

Hey, you can do the upgrade from single-turbo to bi-turbo from SD.
Many people have done that. Difference in compression ratio is minimal. single turbo is 17:1 and biturbo is 16,5:1 You'd need to get a biturbo ECU and the vacuum actuators for turbo regulation. valvecover/ aircleaner/ intakes is different, too. I was about to do that swap, but then I was too impatient sourcing the spares. So I just went for a stage 2 hybrid turbo. So I'm running now nearly 400hp on single turbo. Can't complain |

Thanks i was wondering because someone with an X5 sd/35d done a timing chain and got quoted 15k for a 2nd hand twin turbo engine and the single turbo engines are 3-6k, only need the long bare engine.
