ECU reset
Hey everyone,
my wife has an x6M and I want it to be a hero and change the ignition coils my self. I unplugged the negative before beginning work and about 2 hours later, all ignition coils have been changed. I plugged the negative back and turned the car on. well, all the lights came on, steering wheel, abs, 4x4, pretty much every light on the dash and the car dropped on the passenger side and stayed high on the other side, doesn't help that the car is not on a level ground, it's in my driveway parked on top of snow. But anyways, I heard that it's probably the computer has to be reprogrammed or reset. the positive and negative are really hard to reach so I connected an electrical wire from the negative to the positive away from the battery of course, and I left it all night. Next morning, I connected the positive and then the negative, started the car and same thing even my radio's setting was still good, time and radio station, makes me believe that the computer did not reset..... any idea what else I can do to reset the computer. the dealership is 4.5 hours away from my city and no mechanic in town will touch it. |
