High Beams not working, no codes.

I have a 2012 X5d and the high beams have never worked. When you flash them or turn them on the fog lights turn off and you get the blue high beam emblem come up but the shutters never move and brights never come on. No corrosion on the plug or lights, no codes in INPA.

They are dynamic bi - xenon.

Thanks in advance.

If you don't have any codes then the car doesn't know the bi-xenon shutters aren't working. Which is odd, but I've never had an issue with the shutters.

Here is a wiring diagram for the high/low beams.

You can check for voltage at pin 5 to ensure the FRM is working and continuity between pins 5 and 4 with the high beams activated. If there is no continuity then your shutters are most likely broken and you'll have to replace the headlights.

Thanks! Pin 5 does not have voltage so time to check the FRM. The dealership put a new FRM in back in 2023.
