Syl3ntforce's X5M Journey

Hey Guys so ive been on bmw forums since i was 16 when i got my first bmw. always had e46's and one e90 and a e70 x5 but nothing compares to this beast of a suv X5M.

Its a 2011 X5M Carbon Black/Black extended Leather. I bought it with 68700 in June and it now has 71800. I drive it a lot lol and I enjoy every minute of it.

So far i:

-Repainted the front bumper (It got scratched and a scrape already from road items)
-Replace chrome grilles with Piano Black Grilles
-Muffler and Resonator Delete
-Weisslicht Angel eye upgrades

Up coming:
-CF Front lip
-CF Diffusor
-Springs
-21 or 22 inch wheels
-Maybe a Tune

I will upload more pics in the thread just need to organize and find a way to insert the pic in the message instead of attaching them like now.

For now a few pics of when i got my X5M It had a minor hit on the front bumper and needed t o be repainted and the pdc put back in.

How do you like the muffler & Resonator Delete? Is there any drone? is it too loud for Daily driving?

Honestly as weird as this might sound its not bad at all. With the windows opened it sounds awesome and with the windows closed i barely hear it over my music and i dont blast my music like i used to. Cold start though its really loud then it calms down and becomes a low idle roar. Driving around city you hear it but not as loud since im always under 3k rpm. When i punch it though it sounds like a beast is coming out the pipes.

I dont know if its just these cars but city driving would be louder on my muffler deleted e46 m3 and in this car its not as loud. every other situation the x5m is alot louder

Best part is you can hear the turbos spool up alot more especially if your in a garage.

Il post up pictures of m setup soon just been busy with work and other stuff.

LOL I HATED my e46 M3 without the exhaust it was WAY to loud I opted for the scorpion exhaust when i had that car gave it a nice throaty note. I guess for a $250 risk i could probably just bite the bullet and worst case scenario just go back to the way it was. Im mostly concerned about the drone at highway speeds is it constantly there?

I would definitely try the muffler delete first not hard at all. There is a drone but not bad as my e46 m3. My girlfriend would hate going on long trips in the m3 due to that drone. Now in the X5M she says she barely notices it and i have the muffler delete and resonators off. and we can have a normal conversation without yelling over the drone. When i punch it though to have some fun you can hear it open up though

The way they made this car to be so quiet on the inside is beyond me. it definitely is quieter than the m3 when it comes to highway drone. im going to try and get a few videos of my muffler delete, but as you already know videos can only helps so much

I think you have me sold! My biggest worry is the wife. Can't have her hating the new family member!

If you wouldn't mind posting a pic of what the exhaust shop did I'd love to get an idea of what it looks like now with the muffler removed.

So one of my friends has an X5M as well and we used his car for the "Experiment" we did a standard muffler delete but didn't remove the resonators. Did you try the muffler delete before the resonator delete or you did them both at the same time? Reason im asking is because im wondering how big a difference the resonator will make?

I did the muffler delete first and after a week or so I realized it was to quiet. My friends told me to take the resonator off and it did open it up more. I can hear the turbos spool a bit more and cold starts its loud

Was checking out the airbag in the rear sinnce it blew out on me 2 hrs away from home. AND while i was working on it I found this other piece cracked. Not sure how good that is but will be replacing that to

Was thinking about doing a DIY for this car but I'm pretty sure there is one to replace the bags since it wasn't hard to do.

Might buy rims not sure yet though. Was looking at someones BBS here on the Forum..........might just buy them

After I do a fresh detail ill post more pics hopefully with the CF stuff on

Reviving this thread. Been awhile since i gave updates.

Since my last update I added:

1.2 H&R lowering springs
Vorsteiner CF Front and Rear Lip
Custom muffler delete with 3 inch piping and 3.5 inch tips and resonator deletes
DME Tune
Wrapped in Nardo Grey with Gloss black roof
Installed Avin 10 inch screen
Installed Nelson Racing wheel paddleshifters (will be replacing them today since they look cheaply made and loose)
Painted Wheels silver (need to be redone)

I was going to put turbos and a catless downpipe but changing my mind now and will use that money on something else most likely.

On to some decent Pictures of the car.

Always wanted to see an X5 in Nardo and I think it looks great. Time to get some wheels to bring everything together.
