Oil Consumption Warranty N63
Brought my 2012 X5 50i in to dealer on May 6th 2019 for the excessive oil consumption warranty claim. Today is June 14th and still don't have my car after several calls to service manager and general manager. Finally spoke with the shop manager today and he said that they had to drop the engine to replace the valve stem seals and when they put the engine back together and test drove the car that the check engine light is on. They are telling me that it will cost me $1900 to replace parts near both turbos to resolve this issue. My car was running perfect except for oil consumption. They are telling me that this is not their fault.
I am pissed right now after arguing with this jerk. Any advise how to handle this is greatly appreciated! |

If it wasn't showing any codes/check engine light when you brought it to them then it's their fault. And if its parts that broke during disassembly BMW warranty is supposed to cover all those for recall work. They are most likely just trying to double dip getting paid from both you and BMW warranty. Call them out on their BS and threaten to lawyer up

That's crazy. You went in for warranty work, and they want to charge you 1900. Wow. This is what makes me not go within a 20 mile radius of a BMW dealership. I replaced the Takata airbag myself due to my reluctance to go to BMW.
So, whose faulty is it? A ghost? Perhaps contact BMW of NA? (800) 831-1117 |
