This is awesome man! Really hoping the simulators work out because they are a simple solution to a potential 10+ hour problem.

Got the first sensor hooked up, made a plug and play harness for the simulator. (I just needed to extend the simulator so I can place it away from heat. Plug and play harness isn't really needed.

It's all plugged in now, started the engine and can see the simulators flashing as they are suppose to. Sent a video to the vendor to confirm and all looks good.

Now for the test drive! Hopefully I can put enough miles on it over the weekend to find something out.

What does the flashing signify? (Besides them working, of course) Would it flash in a different pattern to mean something is wrong?

Hope it all works out for you and that it all gets into ready state.

Vendor states that the flickers are responses to lean pulses in the exhaust.

Not really sure of the secret sauce behind the software on it but I can only assume that it flickers when the simulator is cleaning the signal from the sensor and to the DME.

So an update for everyone. Getting codes for the bank 1 sensor. Bank 2 seems to be fine.

Codes 2c73 and 2c7b.

I've swapped the simulators, no change.

I've redone the harness for the bank 1 sensor...no change.

Next I will try to use one of the older sensors I have and see if I get any difference. Maybe it's a bad sensor?

Hmm. If you swapped simulators then it does sound like it is the sensors. Hope it works out!

Yea I thought my sensor on bank 1 had a bad harness so I took it out, redid the wiring on the sensor and used a brand new harness.

Will be trying a different sensor tomorrow. Will report back!

So I went for a test drive this evening with the old sensor in bank 1 and hooked up to the simulator..took the same route I took before for all the other tests (mix of local and highway roads). I have not gotten any codes so far.

I will go for more drives in the next few days to complete the OBD cycle and check to confirm all monitors.

Looks promising!

Have put just shy of 100 miles on them now, no codes. Still waiting for OBD readiness. I think I have not hit the drive cycle yet that checks off all the tests.

Hopefully soon.

Good news is the fuel system finally shows ready now.

Looks like some stuff is still pending on the obd cycle.

Looking good. I wonder how long the cats and o2 take to read. I went through a cycle once and everything got ready in about 50 miles or so.

Yea I need to find the appropriate BMW OBD drive cycle and go through that.

I should also mention that I don't really drive much except to run tests for this simulator and the occasional errands.

Just an update, still no codes guys.

I did the xHP transmission flash (stage 3) and that cleared my DME during the process (so its going thru its ODB monitor cycles again. LOL

Fingers crossed. I've spoken with the vendor and they stated that if these do not work, they will send me a beta version that they are working on to see if that will set the monitors to ready.

Will update as more progress is made.

Catalyst monitors can be set to ready by doing the following drive cycle - This is straight from the book and worked 100% of the time I did this - if not something is wrong.

Requirements - Vehicle MUST be cold.

Drive vehicle at a constant speed within the range between 65 and 95 km/h in 4th gear for about 10 minutes ( oxygen sensor, oxygen sensor heating and catalytic converter monitoring )

That it is all
