2012 x5d yellow engine block symbol
I have a 2012 x5d with 32,000 miles. Today I started the vehicle no engine light on, take off and all of a sudden the yellow engine block symbol comes on. I unscrewed the gas cap and tighten it back on, only cuz I put gas 3 day's ago. Drive and still on. Temps here are 47 degrees and have had no issues till now. Haven't driven it anymore than 5 to 10 miles in the morning and 5 to 10 miles in the evening the past 3 days. Any idea... Thanks taking it in Monday, but it's such a pain. Had a 2013 x3 and was in the shop 2 to 3 times a month.

It's the check engine light-needs to be connected to an OBD II reader to scan for trouble codes. If it's something as simple as a gas cap (wishful thinking), those can go bad, too, triggering an EVAP code.

Thanks. It's under full factory warranty, I'll just take it in and have them check it out. It's just a pain to be going to the dealer.

Tell me about, my 335i was a c.p.o and that warranty covered a lot rite. New waterpump, low pressure fuel pump, turbo vacuum canisters and all turbo lines. Valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, inter cooler gaskets, and more. I replaced the spark plugs, coils, and flushed all fluids. I pretty much have a new car. Lol... I wish. Thank God it's paid for. Thanks

I have a 2011 x5d with now 60k and its been in the shop 6 or 7 times in the last 20k.
Nox sensors, iat/maf sensors, seat motor, some sort of turbo actuator gizmo thing. BMW has pretty terrible reliability, worse than any other car I've had. But hey, you drop it off, they give you a nice loaner to piss about in. Not a bad deal lol. Just enjoy it and dump it when the warranty runs out. Mine's a cpo, but just before 100k it will get dumped. |

Yea, just got this 1. Only had 25,000 miles. So full factory warrantyand is a c.p.o. its just crazy how much these vechicles are in the shop. Waranty is nice its just the inconvenience of taking it and dropping it off.

I've got the same issue. Last time I took it in when this occurred the dealer claimed my diesel fuel was contaminated. At that time it then became a $2,300 insurance claim.
Not real happy with the diesel right now. RR |
