FS: E70/E71 rear cargo lift brackets/strut kits

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
USD 58.00

Item Interest
I have some custom e70/e71 cargo lift bracket and support shock kits that I have developed for sale.
This kit can be used to retrofit newer e70s and e71s that did not come with the bracket and shock from the factory.

I am asking $58 shipped for the kit that includes the bracket, mounting hardware, and a quality aftermarket lift shock.

The lift shock will have a 1 year warranty.

I can also offer the shock alone as a replacement to the stock one for $25 shipped.

The bracket and shock are direct replacements for the OEM units at a lower cost.

Picture of the kit (kits now come powdercoated gloss black):

Kit installed:

Comparison to original bracket (washers are included with the bolts in the kit but not pictured):

Background on the shock and bracket:

After recently purchasing a 2007 E70 with a bad lift shock I did some research to find a replacement after being "shocked" at the price of the OEM unit and being surprised that vendors were not offering a cheaper alternative.

I have sold some of the shocks on ebay and recently had requests for the bracket. I looked into adding the bracket to the kit but found the OEM bracket to also be too expensive to really make it worthwhile to sell...

I decided to draw up a custom bracket that is "inspired" by the original and have some made at the local waterjet shop.

I have two of these left and can make more if there is interest in them.

I setup a little webpage for ordering them them here: http://rbryant.freeshell.org/bmw_products.htm or feel free to PM me with any questions.

Any money I make on these will go toward paying off my recent e70 4.8i engine replacement that was required after my engine literally drank the water in Mexico last October...

Thanks,

Rich

Thanks everyone for all of the interest in these. I have sold the 3 that were new and never installed and possibly the one that is installed on my personal X5 for testing.

I will be making more of these starting next week and should have them in 1-2 weeks.

I setup a little webpage for ordering them them here: http://rbryant.freeshell.org/bmw_products.htm (hopefully this isn't against any forum rules).

If you want one and prefer to pay when it is ready to ship please send me a PM so I know how many to make!

Thanks again for the great support. It makes it much more rewarding to make things when the prototypes sell and some of my startup costs are recouped quickly.

I bought the strut from you on eBay and bought a used bracket from an eBay source, wish I knew you sold the bracket. Anyways, must have if you have a new e70 because they didn't come with them!!

The brackets are a new product that I developed in the past few weeks.

Thanks for buying the strut and for the show of support.

The $60 price on just the strut from BMW is crazy which was what prompted me to start offering them.

Thanks for the feedback and for adding the install pictures for everyone.

The next batch of them is at the waterjet shop now so hopefully I will have more to ship next week.

I hit a bit of a delay with the brackets. I tried to paint a bunch at the same time and did it outside when it was colder than normal in AZ and the paint has runs on pretty much all of them. That is what I get for trying to do more than 1 at a time...

I plan on dropping them off to be powdercoated tomorrow. The powdercoat will be nicer anyway. I will probably have to up the price a couple of bucks eventually to pay for the coatings.

Any orders that have been made or are made this week will be the same price and get a powdercoated part! Hopefully the nicer product makes up for the production delay.

Installed my in about 5 mins! Incredibly easy, wish it was installed instead of using my head to hold up the floor while I put it in. Great creature comfort anytime you have to use this compartment.

Just ordered one myself. I'm tired of holding that up with my head and/or shoulder as I service the battery.
