Hi Guys
I went to view a 2007 X5 4.8i to purchase, the guy had recently replaced his rear differential and said the shop could not erase warning lights after, plus his parking light brake stays on too, but parking brake works
Any idea if these things could be connected to his rear diff replace

There could be several other issues leading to a DSC light;

Now, the fact that the repair was not entirely 'successful' (e.g. the light is on), could mean work was done by someone who did not know what they were doing, questionable service shop, or other issues not being disclosed etc etc. The statements do not inspire confidence on the true state of the car or the reliability & completeness of the information you are being provided.

If you still decide to consider buying it, I suggest you ask for full service history AND get a full pre-purchase inspection (PPI) completed, which *may* help identify other potential issues with the car.....still, if the car has been neglected and/or not properly serviced, you will end up spending a lot of money on repairs & parts, even if you are able to do some the repairs.

I took the car to my BMW tech, he checked the car with his BMW computer and did the latest E70 software update, changed the battery and cleared all the codes, only code showing now seems to be a faulty transfer case actuator
Hopefully they aren't too expensive to buy and install and hopefully dreaded 4X4 light will go away too
