2004 X5 Overheating issue.

Hello Team:

2004 X5 here. (girlfriend SUV).

Car at idle starts to overheat but not while is moving. She took it to the dealership and was supposed to be fixed. 3 months later problem re-occurs again?

Any ideas? Thank you very much.

Cooling system is a very weak part of the E53 X5. Have you checked the coolant level? Possible there's a leak?

Coolant level is fine. I am afraid the fan in front of the radiator is not kicking in. Posible a fuse?

Forgot to mention that when starts to overheat there's a strong smell to burn oil.
