Diesel Guys: 436d Error Code Help
Over the weekend I got an error code that seems to not want to go away. According to my search it sounds like 436d is related to the SCR metering valve. Looking at buying a replacement Bosch unit however I wanted to post this up to see if anyone has had experience with this same code.
Thanks in advance. |

I'm what I can tell, 436d leads me to believe it's the metering valve. I have a used one that I'll sell and it has 65k on it. It was working perfectly before i deleted my x5d

Well it looks like mine is just straight faulty. Pulled it out expecting to see DEF crystallization but instead it’s actually pretty clean. Here’s a pic
The more I think about it even after clearing the codes it immediately popped back up several times so going to replace with a new unit and keep the fingers crossed this resolves the code. |

The power is intoxicating and you can really hear the turbos. According to JR the stage 2.8 tune puts out 594ftlb. The engine seems to breathe easier, stopped CBU and fuel economy has improved slightly

Well, no dice so far. Swapped the valve and error remains unfortunately. Going to drive it around to see if it clears on it’s own.
If anyone has thoughts, please post |

So quick update. Took the X5 to a bmw shop and had them do the trans fluid and while at it asked them to reset all adaptations. Error code has cleared itself and the tech agreed that it was likely the metering valve but sometimes the emissions systems need a reset. Did that and all if well again.
