BMW affected by financial crisis?!

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/08110...earnings_bmw_2

I wonder if they will prefer to shut down plants rather than lowering the prices.

Opel in Germany already shut down all plants except one, for about 2-3 weeks.

I wonder what they will do in Spartanburg.

PS: Recently, BMW started to put commercials on local networks, thing they didn't need to do before. Also they put up big billboards around the city for the X5 winter edition. Thankfully, all the commercials are for series 3 and 5. No need to advertise the X6, because demand is high and supply is short.

From all indications, they will rather shut down factories than to lower prices

The majority of BMWs sold in the U.S. are leased. Much of these folks are the same ones in foreclosure, live paycheck to paycheck, and have no savings. So BMW will lose a huge chunk of buyers who really could not afford a bimmer to begin with.

X6 is selling good- right.
As of October they have sold a approximately 15,500 units globally. This number is a far cry from their projected target of 40,000 units by year end. Based on their projections, the YTD figures as of last month should be about 30,000 units and not the 15,500 they are reporting.

I think that all the projections are bogus to begin with, especially considering the economic climate we are currently in. The projections were done quite some time ago (before this 'crisis' really emerged). Besides they reduced the projections for ALL models across the board due to the state of the economy!

In comparison, how are all the other models doing (projections vs. actual manufactured units) ???

On the other hand, I for one am glad they haven't sold as many units yet... makes the X6 that more 'special' and unique on the road
