X5 or X6
Hi All
I've owned BMWs for a while. I currently have a 2009 135i Convertible and am contemplating selling to buy either a X5 or X6 2010-2014 model years. I'm familiar with N54 engine which my 135 has. My wife has an X3 and we have a couple other BMWs in the corral (Z3 and a 2002). Here's my dilemma. We/I want to give her X3 a little break from towing our camper and have something that's more practical for our home in the NC mountains. I enjoy a "driving experience" and have read that the X6 may be more responsive. Either the X5 or X6 will haul the camper. I've done research on gas vs diesel and have decided on gas. Now that the X6 has been out for several years, I'm looking for input on which one to get. Should I go with and X6 or X5? Any helpful input would be appreciated. Thanks |

I've had 3 X5s; a 2001, 2005 and a 2008. I went from the 2008 X5 4.8 to a 2010 X6 50. The difference blew me away. It drove completely different than the X5. Handling - it had zero body roll, acceleration, steering, suspension. I also had a 2013 X6M. I really miss the first generation X6. They were a blast.
I hope you find what you're looking for.

Still have a 13 X6M….can’t resolve to move on…still on original rotors…Not the most practical when compared to the X5 but I did’t buy it to move stuff but it has done its duty..Longest I’ve ever owned a vehicle…nearly 9 years now.

It depends on how you plan to use it. I wanted another X5 after having an E53 X5 4.4i, which I really liked.
I decided on an E71 X6 after seeing one for sale in California with full M Performance Aero and 21” wheels. With a couple of non-negotiable items that I had to have it took about five months before I found the right one. My only car for years was my E85 Z4 and I really wanted something with a backseat and the Z4 relegated to driving on days off. At almost a year after acquiring the X6 I am still surprised by the amount of people that want one, are curious about it, or inquire about how I like it. |
