s63 engine rebuild and upgrades
so hopefully ill have the sleeved block back in January 2022
(2010 bmw x6m with a 2011 x5m s63 motor) ![]() i am noticing almost all of the bolts on the motor are 'one-time-use'. does anyone know if there is a part number for a kit of all the replacement bolts on a short block assembly? tesos in UAE mentioned it in one of his utube videos but i never was able to get the part number or numbers. id hate to have to go bolt by bolt. fml BMW parts department aren't really all that helpful. ![]()

still waiting on the main journal bearings, but in the meantime, im having a hard time with finding the replacement aluminum bolts for the engine rebuild. i assumed there was a kit part number on the bmw dealer parts sites but cant find anything. anyone else do a rebuild on the s63? what did you do for replacement of the one-time-use bolts?

Thanks
CP-Carrillo Forged pistons 10:1 compression, pistons rated for sleeves Moly dry film coating on the skirts and ceramic coating on the crowns. You may ask why, it's a why not. Heavy duty pins Arrow forged rods I do have regrets / buyers remorse, mainly from the zillion dollars needed on replacement / rebuild parts and if I should spend the few grand on things like sensors and hoses. Money trap isn't even the word. I had just wished I bought a s63tu instead of a regular s63 replacement. But that probably still wouldn't help with the fueling limitations of the direct injection issues. Wish we could just have a new intake mani fabricated with fuel nozzles, spray in more fuel that way and just have it tuned for it. Possible? Dreaming? |

a few tuning places are saying additional fuel is not needed as the stock injectors can handle upwards of 900-1000hp, i assume this is with the WMI injection and not on their own.

I took a break for a couple months. Looking to start back up with the engine work next month.
Here's where I'm at so far: Block is back from machine shop. I had the cast iron sleeves installed. Original s63 has the curved rods. Upgraded to the pro extreme m5 rods which are straight. Had to notch out the block a little to accommodate the rod bolt. Wasn't too worried about this as I see the newer s63tu had this notch done by the factory. Present issue is the oil sprayers. On the original s63 engine I have, there is a single oil sprayer with two nozzles, one nozzle for each cylinder. This oil sprayer is located in the center of the valley which, of course, touches the upgraded M5 rods. On the s63tu, the factory relocated and separated the oil sprayers on the outside of the valley. Since we cannot accommodate that, few options: 1. Try to have a custom oil sprayer made that has a flat head and does not rub the rod bolt. 2. Not recommended but some do..... Shave/grind some of the rod bolt to allow clearance.. IMO I don't want to shave down the rod bolt because that's taking a lot of strength. 3. Plug the oil sprayer hole and notch a small opening at the top of the rod where the bearing is (12 o'clock) to allow some oil to "fling" up to the piston. From a few experts that I have worked with, Porsche racing has this notch on factory forged rods, and some performance Chevy motors. I am leaning towards #3 but will first explore #1.

I asked, they said no, I assume cuz it's not enough sales/interest, Plus maybe something to do with a difficulty in tuning. But thanks for the idea.
