Thank Die Wolfe!

The H&R reducers are made for the 5 series, and will not fit the X5. Your only options are:

So is the problem that the holes on the adapter are too small for the M14 wheel bolts. Then it shouldn't be an issue since I ordered the correct longer M14 bolts for use with the hub. Either way, if everything gets delivered today, I can test it out tonight.

I think you're missing my point. When installing any spacer you will need longer bolts, but the issue here is the 5 series uses M12 bolts, and the X5 uses M14 - which is a larger diameter. Your X5 lug bolts will simply not fit through the holes in the spacer.

Hey note46, did I mention all sales final?! Lol
I think your solution of boring out the spacers is definitely cost effective and will more than likely work. It's pretty much what I had to do to get my Hamann's to fit too. Good luck man and post pics! |

Awhile back there was another guy who didn't have any luck making them work, but it wasn't really clear if there were other issues in addition to the undersized bolt holes. Comparing the pics on the ECS site, it seems like the chamfer around the hub may be deeper on the X5 version...but I'm not sure if that will prevent your spacers from sitting flush against the hub. If it were me, I'd test fit the spacers on the X5 to make sure they sit flush before having any drilling done.

Just catching up and thought I would chime in. I ordered a set of the spacers/adapters for the rear wheels from Motorsports Tech last week. My new winters (298M style) will arrive Wednesday so I hope to have some pics by next weekend.
15mm is the smallest Motorsports Tech said they can machine due to the hub lenght. But, spoke to the owner and he was very knowledgable about what I was going to do. Look forward to sharing the results. EDIT: and he had the extended bolts in stock (in black). OE is 28mm and the spacer is 15mm so the bolt is M14x1.25 x 43mm long ANOTHER EDIT!!: I just realized this is in the classified section. When I get the new wheels/tires and Motorsports Tech adaptors I'll start a thread with pics. Last edited by troymi; 02-03-2014 at 02:05 PM.. |
