So in order to get these replaced, is the general consensus for what to tell the dealer "car has a sluggish start"? I have been getting horrible gas mileage (12mpg hwy w/ no passengers or cargo), the inner left tailpipe turns black very quickly, and the power doesn't seem to be what it used to. I'm taking the truck to the dealership Friday for regular service appt and mentioned a slow start even though it's not really that bad, but if there's a few key words to use that will prompt the replacement I'd love to know.

Very scenario is different. You will get a check engine light, but iDrive will say everything is ok.
The best part other than the car driving so much better and having all that power, is no more heavy soot on the exhaust tips. Unless you are catless of course |

When I just start using those additives, my gas mileage gets worse every tank I add this in, but after 2 cases (12 bottles), overall mpg raises and I could get even better mpg if I just add it into a new tank. |

Injectors were completed, I picked up Friday morning and my wife and I promptly went on a trip to the Outer Banks (~450 miles one way). Car drove great heading down, 25mpg!!! All was good Friday & Saturday. Sunday, driving back to Corolla from Manteo and the CEL pops up, but iDrive said all systems were good. Drove fine the rest of the trip. And I was sweating it driving home (another ~450 miles). Dropped at the dealer yesterday afternoon, now waiting to hear what's causing the error.

I have a 2011 X5 50i Dinan, and I have had the same issues recently. I bought it in June of 2013 and the dealer just recently replaced the injectors and springs. I was bringing it in every 4-6 weeks until they resolved it last month. I was also doing multiple Dinan upgrades during this time too. Check engine light would always come on and system would say all systems ok. jumpy idle and the engine would choke on itself often (6 times in one day) giving me the reduced power output warning. No problems since the dealer replaced injectors and springs. Much better gas mileage and power output. Smoked a Porsche this am on my way to the office too. Took off like a rocket before he even knew what happened.

OBX? Awesome, perfect way to celebrate 15 years of wedlock. First time we vacationed there, will definitely go back and take our son.
Having the CEL go on 400+ miles from home? Sick to my stomach. Quote:

Recap of my story: after all 8 injectors, plugs, connecting lines, etc. my wife and I made a trip to the Outer Banks, NC ~500 miles one way. CEL popped up while we were there and drove fine. Ran around on vacation and drove home without issue. Dropped at the dealer, they had my X5 for 6 business days diagnosing and working with engineering. I picked it up a few days ago. Car was running rich in bank#2. Turbo inlet causing leak. Turbo inlet pipe seal and MAF replaced. Still rich. Replaced o2 sensor on bank#2. Bank #1 then throwing rich condition, replaced o2 sensor on #1, did not fix issue. PUMA case opened. Replaced MAF sensor on bank #1 and ignition coil. The awesome thing about all this is the dealer handled everything under goodwill. Just under 57K, I bought the extended maintenance since we put on 15-20K per year. Didn't do a warranty...may re-think that now. Anyway, since getting it back, running great. Gas mileage is 1-2 better doing the around town driving. Heading to our shore house Friday afternoon, I'll see how good the gas mileage really can get!

Mine has been throwing multiple cylinder misfire codes, has rough idle, dark exhaust, and been going into limp mode nearly every day. It's at the dealer now - hopefully they have the injectors in stock.
While it is there, they are addressing the front drive shaft recall issue. At least they gave me a brand new 328xi to thrash while they have my baby. Better the POS X1 they gave me last time.

new injectors and plugs going in. I also have broken crankcase tubes, so those are being replaced as well.
Will be happy to have my girl back and healthy again. Should be faster than ever, too!

Driveshaft recall was late for me. Mine broke and punched a hole in the oil pan. Fixed under Carmax warranty. I had 4 injectors replaced under warranty and I replaced all 8 plugs at my cost. Warranty company would not replace all 8 as recommended by the service bulletin from BMW. So now when they fail, I will be down for another week or so. Just frustrating......
