I wish I had read this thread a year ago!

Long story short $25k later, ~180 days in the garage while driving a 320i as a loaner,

My 2010 x6m had the evaporator, compressor, bottom and upper oil pans, turbos, injectors and everything in between replaced and still the check engine malfunction, a/c not working well, major oil and fuel consumption.

BMW dealership asks me to find another BMW dealership as they don't know what is wrong and not willing to reimburse me a dime or fix my problem.

Now I might be crazy but I took it to another BMW dealership where the technician after 2 min mentioned the vacuum line was cracked and there it was cracked in 4 different places even sliced in half in 2 places and for some reason still holding.

Furious I took a 5 min trip down to home depot and some electrical tape seemed to solve all my problems, no more check engine, no stalling, crazy rpm on idle, oil consumption, a/c is working...

I should be insane or 5 dollars for 5 min solved what BMW Dealership couldn't solve in 180 days and 25k later???

It is only day 2 so fingers crossed, I am going to buy the line but do you guys have any idea how to remove it?do you have to press on the clips on each side or the one in the middle?

There's an open recall for the same vacuum line. You just press on the clips on the sides at the same time and pull.

I'll go back to the 1st dealership and ask for your money back.

I have the same problem the parts number given by dealership matching

The dealer replaced all the PCV hoses and part number are as follows.

11-15-7-589-989 vent pipe
11-15-7-589-992 vent pipe
11-15-7-595-188 connecting line
13-71-7-848-152 filtered air duct
13-71-7-848-152 filtered air duct

The estimate given by dealership to fix this is 2700$ do they need to remove turbos

Dealership is asking 3000$ For the following, is it a difficult diy or Indy work

Well you can have the dealer replace the connecting line at no cost to you under warranty. I found that this part is covered for 10yrs 120k miles.

Wait, whop paid $25k?!

Take it to another shop lol...that just proves all their fancy training means nothing, it comes down to skill and knowing vehicles vs just reading codes.

You electrical taped the vacuum line? Why didn't they replace it in their efforts?

coolmayank, you've given three different prices, ranging from $2700-$3500. This is maybe $500 in parts and can be done in 5-6hrs if you're drinking at the same time lol. I bought mine via eBay where some BMW dealership in NC or SC had an online store. That's absurd to pay even half of your lowest price range.

Where do you get the info about the open recall for the vacuum line. the safety recall doesn't show this information

Thanks

Good thread OP!
How much you paid for this repair on a dealership. Is this considered to be a maintenance part

Call your nearest stealership, give them your VIN and ask if you've got any open recalls.

Apparently only the three listed above are covered. The filtered lines are the main problem. They leak and the gasket at the turbo weekends from just removing the engines filters. Poor design? Cheap materials? Thinking of moving to I new brand.

Did the dealer replace the 3 lines under warranty? I may have a vacuum leak which may be coming from the hoses going down to the manifold.

Got a letter in the mail last week, according to it, only the "connecting line" has an extended warranty of 10 years and 120K miles.

Thanks!
btw, did the shop determine that the transmission was slipping, or was the issue just with the injectors?

Not a recall, but extended coverage - kinda like the fuel pump

The service manager showed me the documents stating that those three are covered. The filtered lines are not. Keep am eye on those as they only have one screw at the turbo holding them in place. Just removing the airfilters can eventually make it inoperable.

Does anyone have paper work showing what hoses are covered and what ones are not? I paid to have all them replaced. Dealer never said anything about being covered by BMW.
