Wink Installed M steering wheel on LCI X5 35i

Hi There,

I just installed the M steering wheel on my late 2011 LCI X5 35i and guess what, the paddle shifters work .
I searched foe it before installing to see if it would work without any modifications but couldn't find anything. So I wanted to write this post and confirm that the shifters work like a charm and steering wheel feels great. I have a sports activity and I think it comes pre-wired to work with paddle shifters. I will post some pictures soon.

I do miss the paddles, all of my other cars have them.

How hard was it to swap out the wheel? Where did you source the wheel? Price?

Thanks.

Well coming from a e90 335i, I missed them as well and that led me to do this mod. The wheel was sourced from Germany from a friend and a brand new M wheel with M trim and MF buttons was around $650.
The swap was not hard at all, just followed the steps on the e90 DIY section and forum members confirmed me that no errors on removing the battery.

Looks great mate, definitely nicer than the M Sport steering wheel since you have the fancy stitching.

i do have sports activity package, but did you check to see if your harness had the extra pins inside before connecting it? (crossing fingers it will work)

hey Singh97, did you notice if the harness had the extra pins/connector before you connected the wheel?
