When installing look thru the smaller eye and make sure the H8 is positioned correct upside down "T" locking the bulb. You can see the hole where the LED needs to be to light up outter ring

Ya thats one of the thing i was mentioning as well to you. I would double check to make sure the light is seated properly and also twisted in place all the way. If its not in the light wont focus in the right spot and it will make the outer ring dimmer in color. You also said that you tried swapping thr LUX from side to side already too right?

Correct, I did swap from side-to-side. So the problem doesn't lie within the bulbs being faulty. I'm not here to bash LUX in any way.

The issue is with the drivers side headlight (outer ring). Both bulbs lit up 100% white on the passenger side outer ring.

Which makes me believe I did position them correctly.

Oh ya i know i would just double check to make sure they are installed right and twisted in place all the way. Try to look at the inside of the inner ring and you should be able to see the light installed there. You will be able to see if its straight or for some reason crooked. Also were the headlights ever replaced on the car as that could make a difference

I'm going to look into the headlight issue this weekend and double check on that.

Wouldn't of that appeared in the car fax report or BMW service history? I didn't come across that.

Well, X5 (actually 5 series to be exact) started the whole "angel eyes" thing. A 2015 vehicle ought to have better rings vs. a 2007 they used as inspiration..

After all this time, all these threads, and all these pics, IMO all of these aftermarket options look bad. Some look better than others, but if I had a 2011 or earlier X5 it would be OEM LED retrofit, or just turn the coronas off in iDrive.

I don't get wanting the brightest look possible? All I see is a blob of light coming from the headlight units in all these pics…or uneven lighting…

I'm not arguing that the design of the headlights makes it difficult, but here's one picture from over on the Photo forum of the lights installed in an X5. They are pretty even looking and this is also very accurate to what you see in person

Lux 160's on the way

Just ordered the 160's for my X5M 2012. I'm a new member but have been keeping up with this thread. I plan on putting some PICS of GP bulbs currently on the beast and then the 160's. 160's supposed to arrive Monday. At the end of the day, it will be fine because most won't be seeing my Heads for long as I pass on the left.

Lux 160 installed compared to GP Thunder

Just put these in today. Slightly cloudy outside so will try to post better PICS. Overall I'm very pleased with the difference between stock and GP's. GP passenger side and yes it did seem to start having some fade to red but the camera seems to make this worse. LUX on driver side. For me LUX works and relatively cheap. Got to resize the rest of pics then post.

Honestly I think the lux blue looks a lot better than white. Here's a pic I took a while back for comparison.
