Yep center to centre of the threads attached to the balls lol hard to explain but the only threads your measuring between..anyway I adjusted mine to 65mm and drove around for a couple of days, seems a bit bouncy but nothing extreme, I have an alignment booked on monday next week at bmw and my buddys going to be doing it, If I have time I might adjust it to 67mm over the weekend and see the difference and If its noticeably better ill keep and it and if not ill have him set it back to 65mm when he's got it on the alignment rack..You need to use a vernier calliper to make sure its 100% and then both sides will be perfect. I used a measuring tape first time and then found my vernier and one side was a hair over 67 and other was almost 69, My measurements seem to be around 30.25"-30.5" all around but its hard to get a perfectly level surface to measure, even my garage floor has some rolls in it but Ill have my buddy measure when he has it on the alignment rack thats dead level, good luck buddy!

Still toying with this idea but reading unsatisfied people scares me.

From what I gather there are two kits? 2" and 1.2"? Which is better? As close to stock as possible driving? Don't want bouncy and hassle.

What is self-leveling kit and no self-leveling kit? Noob questions here.

From what I remember the 2" kit was pretty harsh. the 1.2 was not bad at all.

2" is more harsh and non-stock like. Expected on a vehicle of this weight and the added strain on the struts.

1.2" is a good little drop and pretty decent ride as long as the rear is adjusted properly (quick search will show you that).

Search options by your VIN and it will tell you whether or not you have self leveling.

Thanks for the reply.

Where do I search options with my VIN?

I guess I could go with 1.2 as long as I know the exact settings that it needs to be at for the best ride quality. Problem is since I wouldn't be able to do it myself, I'd like to get it done from the shop as soon as I get them installed.

Does the vehicle need alignment after?

I just ordered the 1.2" drop springs for my 50i w/o air ride.

Massive gap with my 20" wheels. I have sets of both 215 and 336 style wheels, which would you guys run? White truck, both sets of wheels are black.

I will take pics as soon as they are installed.

Are you guys putting these springs on stock struts/shocks or upgrading to aftermarket?

Thanks.

I am told H&R only makes the lowering kit for the front? Is that correct or not? My understand was that it was for both front and rear? But the shop is telling me it's two kinds by H&R just for front though and Eibach makes for front and rear. I am so confused...please help!

H&R makes a set of front springs and you use adjustable rear links for the rear for the air suspension.

Looks a bit like these : http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=861336

Ah I see that makes some sense now. So these adjustable rear links is that something that comes with the kit or needs to be ordered separately? Or is that something that's already on my car and needs to be adjusted?

Thanks a lot!

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/H-R-lowering-...JXe0cB&vxp=mtr

I'd like to go with 1.2" version. It's for my 2012 X5M. Does this include everything I need?

It's 5 pages of info, you can use the Search button just as much as the next guy. Hell, I've seen people ask more about these springs than of our presedential choices lol. Just but the 2" and move forward, I daily my X5M on 22's and it's great.

I did search but didn't find anything specific on my last question where I posted the link to the actual springs that I was thinking of purchasing. I want to go with 1.2" and just want to confirm if the ones in that link are the right ones!

2' drop can be had for 200 bucks ... running 2' drop springs from this vendor and no complaints from me and my wife thinks the ride is fine, she honestly has the say about wether the springs stay on ).

Steering difference is night and day no more bodyroll

So I finally pulled the trigger on the 1.2" set and will be getting them installed in a week or so. Do you guys know what's The best height setting for the lowering links to get the best possible ride quality? If I have the number I can tell the shop to adjust them to that height. Thanks.

Does using the rear links affect the self leveling suspension at all...towing for instance?

So just for fun I had the tech install the rears at 66mm. I couldn't resist. Not that a mm makes a difference but ride quality is not compromised at all, and the lines on the car are perfect. I've had ample time and miles to settle, couldn't be happier.
