Tirerack shows one size of the Contis to be back-ordered until APRIL. Does anyone know if this is accurate? I may be running my snows until mid-April if it's true

For some reason, Tire Rack always seems to have random tires on back order for days! I had this problem a few times and didn't want to wait. With that said, I recommend finding one of those tire warehouse distribution centers; they always miraculously had in stock what Tire Rack didn't.

Had 18" Bridgestone Dueler RFTs. Not great in snow, and even some hydroplaning in water (live in Seattle).
After going with Conti DWS, none of that happens. Absolutely great tire in situations like heavy rain and snow mix.
For a short wile after switching to Contis, I would be approaching water and go "hold on to your hats!" based on past experience with Bridgestones, but then it just plows through. Was very surprised at how these tires perform.

Discount Tire Direct is the best place to go (all price includes shipping). They should have plenty in stock.

I feel you on the F15s. Maybe I'll change my mind when I see the mSport version with 20s. I was building one online, it's $10k higher apples to apples compared to the E70.

The F15 owners who switched from the E70s are saying the F15 is better in every possible way. They say it's also lighter and quieter.

I have also heard the Contis are on national backorder for the fronts, but they are doing a production run of them in March.

Thanks JNoSol, I hear you...

Guys, I bought my Contis on TireBuyer 2 weeks ago. They had them in stock and delivered FEDEC ground in 2 days!
The sales guy t TireRack (where I had bough the Scorpions) suggested I do so... ;-)

I was revisiting these tires, and noticed that Continental doesn't make a 275-40-20 for the fronts. Is everyone using the 275-45-20, and are there any issues with traction/stability control or ABS due to the larger overall width?

Interesting. Tire Rack does not list a 275-40-20, but Continental sure has it on their website.

Thanks!

Tire Rack may be out or something. Strange. Try Discount Tire/Americas Tire whichever is near you.

Discounttiredirect.com has free shipping too, but in OH I think you will have to pay tax. I ordered from them, got delivery to MI for free and did the mount/balance on Hunter equipment at local Discount Tire.

Funny, my E70 needs new tires and I can't find these tires anywhere on either discount tire or tire racks websites. They list the conti sport contact 5 SSR as the only tire available in that size. Did conti discontinue these or am I missing something? :

Whatever is listed in the door, add 5-7psi and start there. You can subtract from there from either end, ff or RR. Since the alignment is not easily changeable, tire pressure isn't going to do much, as much as a proper alignment would.

Continental DWS06 Plus X5 staggered setup

All,

I thought someone may find this useful. I have 275/40/20 with 315/35/20 on my X5 sdrive40e. I finally decided to replace my RFT Pirelli P0. My second setup tires were still the Pirellis since I am at 63K miles. I know a lot of people don't like the Pirellis but they lasted 30K miles for me and I could have had another 5K out of them. I was torn between the Contis and the Michelin Pilot Sport all season 4. I got the Contis as I have Continental on my Passat and they are great.. I am not sure about Contis on my X5. First, I don't find them quieter than the Pirellis. Not louder, but just about the same for not being RFT. Cornering is very comparable to the all summer Pirellis which is a good thing, considering these are listed as an "all season" ( first, I live in Southern California, but if I didn't, I would definitely have 2 sets of tires: winter/summer). As for braking power, just about the same. However, I have to mention that my vehicle moves forward visibly more when braking that with the Pirellis which isn't a good thing. That means more stress on the struts, bushings, control arms. It may be because the tires are softer than the Pirellis. At least that's what they say. When going over bumps, I am not noticing a visible improvement which isn't very good since I am comparing them with a used set of tires I just got off the car. I can't say great things about the road noise either; they aren't noisier than the Pirellis but not considerably quieter either. If anybody is looking for a replacement for the RFT tires, I would give Michelin a try. These Contis seem good but nothing "better" than the Pirellis. Sure, still need to test them in the snow/water so for that part, I have no feedback as of now. Maybe that's were they shine, but if you live in a mostly hot/dry area, you may want to look elsewhere.
