I'm actually about the pull the Ultimate Racing ones off my M when I get it back from the dealer. Its a lemon, and I'm working with BMW to get rid of it, so it needs to go back to stock. Not sure if I'm keeping them or not. If I get another N63/S63 car I can reuse them. If I get an N55, which is looking pretty likely, they'll have to go.
The Ultimate Racing DPs doesn't have a "flex pipe" version. Do you see any issues with using a DP without flex pipes? The akra and AR Designs both have flex pipes welded in.

I never saw that as an issue. They're pretty much bolted solid anyway, so even with a flex, I don't think they would ever move.

How are these holding up? Interested in getting one of these. Cannot get myself to pay 3K for the Vorsteiner/Dinan, 5K for Eisenmann and close to 6K for the Akra.

Also just to confirm: there is no way to get back to the stock exhaust if I decide to trade the truck in?

It is louder than the stock with no drone??

Thanks in advance

True, a EU exhaust is $3k. But you get what you paid for. I've seen guys with $30k Nissan Z with $3k Titanium Exhaust, that's 10% of the car's cost.

You'll have to cut and weld, so you'll have to install new OEM pipes to get it back to 100% stock. I can't imagine any OEM M parts will be cheap to replace. You might want to check if that's going to add up to $3k before proceeding.

Looks like they run for $338 now. Good luck.

You don't get what you pay for. You get a European name on it. Thats it. Just like the idiots who buy big name clothes instead of regular names. No better, just more expensive.

Should come out to about $360 shipped IDK when the code expires but 10% off sounds good to me lol

Any idea on if I install this exhaust BMW will get bitchy or void my warranty? I have a 2012 X5M with ~28K miles on it so its still under the new car warranty.

a muffler will NOT void your warranty. Removing emission equipment can!(cats)

I think anyone on here with a X5m or X5m is still under new car warranty.

and to the other poster, they will take it in trade regardless. lot of dealers like aftermarket parts(they wont give a penny more) but if the vehicle hits their used car lot and not wholesale, I can bet it will be advertised as "added performance" or "Tuned"

EXACTLY!!!

Personally, I have no issue paying those silly prices for a muffler or exhaust if they made a lot of power. But on our cars/SUVs, why??? They don't make much power. is a 7000 muffler going to make 17 times more power then my 400 muffler?? is it even going to make double??? Hell no. Infact, I think it will be similar. so what the point?

I bought the megan not for the handful of possible HP. But for a louder sound. That's it. Is 7000 worth it for a louder exhaust??

But the sub 400 muffler, install it, keep the stock muffler if you are so scared and try it. if you don't like it, have the stocker rewelded and throw the megan away. No loss. But I bet you will keep it

I think most the people who are against this or talk bad about it, are the ones who bought an Akra or Eissenman.

If Megan had a version with the exhaust valve, I would jump all over this deal.

can I ask why? plenty of more expensive aftermarket systems for these vehicles and some have it, some don't. I used to drive in M all the time, so the stocker was always open anyways. It doesn't trip any codes or lights.

Its my daily driver so its nice to have a more civilized sound during rush hour. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound it produces with M mode engaged, but only when I want it to.

The cheapest axel back system I can find with the exhaust valve is the eisenmann for over $4k. What makes this 10times more expensive than Megan? I have no freaking idea.

If only Dinan had a promo running right now...

Any updates on people with Megan exhausts (with stock DPs)? How are y'all liking it?

hello Miller,
I know its been quite a while since your post about the Megan exhaust you have in your X5M.
I'm shopping for a low price option for my 2010 X6M, since you already have 18 months using the system, will love to have some feedback regarding workmanship of the mufflers and if you had some issues recently?
Also what did you do with the vacuum valves?
My goal is to get a more deeper sound in low revs, don't want to go too loud, but will be happy if I can hear that V8 as a "subwoffer" like the Mercedes G63 AMG sounds.
Any feedback will be appreciated!
Bernie
