2011 x5 35d, 34,000 km, no issues. I even towed our boat to the Canadian Rockies, 11hrs each way, and it was a rockstar. 21" Yamaha 212x jet boat, about 5500lbs.

25k miles - and no issues

Around town average 21-22 mpg. Freeway at steady 75 mph average 25-26 mpg. No complaints other than diesel fuel being more than premium unleaded these days

I have around 10,700 in the last 10 months with no engine, body or fit and finish problems. I did have a problem with one of my run-flats it developed a slow leak and was replaced with my tire insurance. I get 18 - 20 mpg in the city an 23 - 26 on the highway.

15K miles in 9 months and no issues. 24 MPG on interstate trips @ 85MPH. Get closer to 26 MPG at 70-75 MPH. Wife loves her X5.

Yup 1 year old and 16k miles. No issues at all (knock on wood), MPG and power is awesome! Use it for towing my boat long distances and it's a beast! Towed my boat 3/4's of a tank of gas last weekend and finished the tank with 326 miles. I average 50/50 city/ hwy and get 460 per tank almost every time. 530+ per tank highway with my foot in it. I had a loaner X5 335i a few weeks ago and the Diesel is WAY BETTER! Would definitely buy again! Only thing I wouldn't get is the steps, I hate them! Premium Stereo is a must as well!

5500 lbs at 15MPG HWY!

Came to my wife's job to pick up the X5, and she'd filled it up with 53 boxes (combined weight of +- 1500 Lbs).
Went crazy and got scared to drive it home (the truck was sitting very low, no 3rd row so no self leveling).

Could feel the weight by the way the suspension was working, but the engine, maybe a big .1 MPG more.

I simply my X5. But just to be in the safe side, the return trip was done w/ a UHaul 4x8 trailer !

Follow up....it's at the dealership now....they will be replacing the "supply module" under warranty. It appears to be electrical, however I'm unsure of its exact purpose. My mpg dropped my 2 mpg avg over the past couple months to 21.5 avg.

Had my new 2012d for almost 2 months, and 4,500 miles. Love this SAV. Torque is cool as hell (low rpm...1750 gets 425 pound feet of torque...WOW!). Typical diesel engine can idle for extended periods in blazing hot summer heat, engine runs cool as a cucumber and A/C is flawlessly cold. Love this vehicle!

same here..

2011 35d - 20k without issue. Having replaced my age(d) 2002 P38a Rover with this, I've been very impressed with all aspects of the vehicle. Mileage, Handling, Comfort and the cabin tech.

Best of luck!

2010 X5 35d with 48k miles. No issues, great acceleration, torque and miles per gallon, especially city driving. In fact selling it for a new 2012 delivery this weekend.
This is a great vehicle. Only annoyance are the idiots that tell me " do you know you are pumping in diesel fuel" when I go to fill her up.

Drove from MA to central FL with my new 2012 X5 35d and averaged 26mpg. Kept speed between 70 and 82mph. Occasionally under 70 through major populated areas.
This is a great driving vehicle.

This thread is hilarious.

Either the vast majority are ignoring or unaware of the recalls that have been issued for this vehicle or they are in pure denial.

Very happy with our X5 overall, but there have been multiple issues...all of which have been either recalls or warranty items.

Care to enlight ignorants ?
I drive a BMW, I know for a fact that I'll end up in the stealer at one point or the other, that didn't prevented me to buy 3.

I don't think that the X5 35d is, or will ever be close to what I've had with my 335i 2007, only time will tell. What I've heard up to now was the recall on the EGR valve (done before I've bought it).

I won't buy a sleepmobile just because it's reliable.
I love to get behind the wheel.

And if at 1 point, I grew tired of visiting my friendly neighborhood BMW, then I'll doze in a Lexus, or another brand. They own 15 stealerships.

Your point???

The OP asked about the reliablity of the X35d. The FACT is that there have been more than one recall...mostly revolving around emission components.

I could give a rats azz whether or not you are ok with the mediocre reliability of BMW's. The OP asked a question and the badge humpers in this thread that have repeatedly posted about this vehicle being absolutely trouble free are either ignorant or denial.

Is that any more clear for you?

And fyi....my last 3 purchases have been BMW's including our current E70 and F02....pre-dated by an E53. Throw in my father's X6 and E36 325is and I'm well aware of what BMW brings to the table. Acceptance of what they bring to the table doesn't change the facts about reliability.

I am pretty sure the OP asked diesel owners directly how their reliability has been and owners have been answering with their personal experience. Am I missing something?

IMO, recalls don't necessarily speak to reliability. Tons of vehicles have recalls.

+1.

I been having several headaches with my 2012 since the day one and still do. I had almost none with my both 3ers.

With me, up to now, it was the opposite.
I shared custody with my dealer for my 335i, yet I still misses it, since the last dealer finally figured out what was wrong, and fixed it (both turbos had to be replaced).

I wouldn't have switched cars (if it wasn't a requirement), but switched dealer instead.
Couldn't be happier.
