man you paid a pretty penny up in canada, even the list price is higher than US.

online from several bmw dealers they're going for $285.00

http://parts.northwestbmw.com/a/BMW_...e/02_0009.html

01 Brake disc, ventilated, left. 395X36
X6 M (S63R). Required: 1X5 M (S63R). Required: 1
34112284901
$284.87

01 Brake disc, ventilated, right
X5 M (S63R). Required: 1X6 M (S63R). Required: 1
34112284902
$284.87

and why did they charge you more for the Right side rotor vs left ?

Canadian dollar is currently around 69 cents US... so $284 USD = $415 CAD. Plus the difference between Online and Dealer pricing... there's your difference

I powder coated them red then used a stencil and painted those with black calliper paint

Everything in the US is much cheaper. Mainly due the population size and demand.

Not sure why two identical rotors cost different price tags. BMW couldn't tell me. They were $500 dollars more than the original non cross drilled rotors so i thought it was worth the upgrade

sorry must have missed that, assuming you had to disasemble the callipers before powder coating? I am looking to do the same as the blue callipers don't flow with the theme I'm eventually going for. As for the black are you talking about the rims?

I did have to dissemble everything since you can not bake the rubber seals. Im referring to the ///M logo on the calliper in black. The wheels are also powder coated black.

Well yes, but to be exact, if you are talking rotating mass (wheel or brake rotor) the further out from the axle that 2 lbs is, the bigger the difference. So, 2 lbs removed from edge of rim is better than removing those 2 lbs from close to the center of the wheel. So if the 2 lbs is reduced from the wheel further out than the rotor, it will make a bigger difference. Most of the wheel is further out than the rotor.
Likewise, a lighter tire is even better than lighter rim, as the tire sits further from axle.

Realistically, it's almost impossible to know where the weight was reduced from. If you put the wheel on a scale, its one single number. I guess you could mount it on something and spin it, and measure the force it takes to stop it. Who will do this?

In terms of unsprung weight / suspension movement, both these would contribute to the benefit of reduced mass equally; and both would be equal to reducing the (non-rotating) wheel hub by the same amt.
