Yes, 15k interval.

Lots of discussion on why the S63 is excluded. No service bulletin or campaign for the S63, but (in my experience), dealers may elect to provide "goodwill" on some of these items for X5M owners. Quietly.

I remember reading an article about the S63 having different timing chains and a few other items than the N63. This might be part of the reason the S63 is not included.

Just got my car back from the recall service (sort of). They did not have to pull the engine as my SA thought they might, replaced all the injectors and some other stuff that I would itemize if I had the bill, and my car. They neglected to fix the two scratches they put on the car in December when they did pull the engine to fix the seals, pistons etc. So, the car is still at Nalley. Driving a pretty nice, X3 M package.

Does anyone know if this includes a software update? I've heard all coding will be lost but an actual software update will be a pain. I've installed a retrofit CombBox in my early 2011 and Patryk says I will have to remove it or the software update will fail.

I believe so.

As per ISTA/P 3.54.3

E070-14-11-501

New I-levels for the E90 and E70 contain new DDE software to correct the zero-mass adaptation faults from occurring after intake carbon cleaning as described in SI B13 04 14.

All vehicles with N63: New test plan for checking the timing chain wear. Important to note: this test plan is needed for the N63 Customer Care Package, which will be released starting January 1, 2015.

Important:

The vehicles must first be updated using ISTA/P 3.54.3 (Target I-levels=> E89X-14-11-501 and E070-14-11-501) for this test plan to complete successfully, as all previous software versions do not support this function.

With these ISTA/P and ISTA version releases, IRAP sessions are no longer necessary for both issues.

Because of these important updates, all workshop equipment must be updated by January 1, 2015 in order for Customer Care Package work to be performed at your center.

So for those of us running a flash tune like Velos, this will overwrite it?

Still dont have the car, but they replaced the injectors, vacuum pump and some oil line. Don't know about software updates, there was nothing on my work order. I asked the shop supervisor about the battery "High Discharge". He did not really answer but he said that BMW is now replacing the batteries in cars under warranty every 20,000 miles.

Yes, I believe it would. You then would have to do the initial process again with velos. I already called active auto and gave them the heads up as that is the tune I am running.

Need more input on this thread from people who've actually had their X inspected. Only 1 or 2 so far…? I'm about to make my appointment but was hoping to hear more feedback/results…

My dealership had four in last week and one needed a new timing chain.

I took my X5 in for scheduled maintenance last week and was unaware of the customer appreciation program. The service writer informed me that they would be checking it out. They had done three before mine and didn't have to replace anything. Mine was the lucky fourth. I am expected to get the car back on Monday but they ended up replacing almost everything on the motor other than the bottom end. Parts list is multiple pages including cylinder head, timing chains, fuel injector rails, various ducts, seals, gaskets etc. They have had the truck for about a week and a half and done a great job of keeping me informed throughout. It is very interesting because it was running great when I took it in and didn't have any problems.

Just got mine back.

Ended up getting a new MAF, a whole host of vacuum lines, and a vacuum pump.

Injectors and battery had already been replaced under warranty.

WOW. Hopefully that motor is now bulletproof for many years to come. I dropped mine off this morning and am anxiously awaiting the update.
