I had some further tuning and adjustments made on my last tune as the the EGR functionality hadn't been completely disabled. We've added a K&N air filter and I've recommended some more adjustments as I was getting a P02CA code on high speed pulls. Also the DEF tank has been drained so I will ensure no issues or codes with that. I had originally requested this but it wasn't a priority for the beta tuning. Looking forward to seeing how it likes the newest revisions.

Have pulled the trigger and am doing this also. I'll be removing the DPF and replacing it with the DPF delete pipe provided and will send the ECU off to be reflashed to negate all EGR functions. Here's where I found the shop that builds the DPF delete pipe and reflashes the ECU;

http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...te-development

I'll do a write-up as I accomplish this.

Which of their option did you end up going with? Sounds like Option 2 from your description. And what was the cost? Just curious. PM me if unable to disclose publicly.

im new to BMW, having owned 2 Audi's whose interior is great but come sevearly underpowered.. i dediced to buy an x5 35d as well about a month ago. Been looking do to upgrade the performance and stumbled on this article.

First of all, that exhaust is a piece of work, wow. Awesome work. Im looking for someone to remap my ecu, but noone in the state of Utah knows how to properly work on Diesel BMW's (that i have knowledge of). Thanks for the post and advice.

Latest update; we've been struggling to get one final code eliminated P02CA and it looks like we have been missing a key piece...we need to block the flow to the low pressure EGR as seen in the following image:

The 335D doesn't have the Low Pressure EGR and it is only on the X5D so it may be how we missed this initially. The last iteration of the tune felt amazing though and we have drained the Urea tank completely and eliminated any codes associated with it. The tank was flushed several times with distilled water to ensure none of the leftover Urea would crystalize. The low level Urea countdown code has been disabled. The High Pressure EGR is disconnected and any codes associated with it are disabled. In Torque APP it shows no movement (for whatever reason it reads back at 4.7%...but it's unplugged).

I will be installing a blocker plate in it next week in addition to slightly modifying the exhaust pipes to extend them an extra inch to be similar length to the OEM exhaust tips as I feel they are currently too far into the bumper and it has caused a little bit more soot buildup on the bumper than I'd like to see.

Standby hopefully for the last revision to this tune but be sure that I will stand for nothing but perfection.

New tips and blocker plate worked out perfectly!

I requested to lean out the fueling on startup some more and my tuner says it's really good now. Last tune the boost was lower just to verify that there wasn't any issue on lower boost levels and it was perfect, drove it as hard as I could with no limp mode or errors.

My tuner bumped up the boost today and reported that the car pulls very strong with no issues. It will be a couple weeks until I drive it again and that is hopefully the final time I request changes.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to stuff like this but I'm sure the tune has been polished a lot now and will benefit all newcomers.

NC is not a emissions inspection state for diesel vehicles. That does not mean that you are legally allowed to remove the exhaust and all related emissions equipment, simply that the inspection is safety only...

Picked it up today and there still seems to be a few things that I'll be looking into. I'm getting a sporadic code that comes in and goes away (P0238 - Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Sensor "A" Circuit High).

Currently right now I get about 10seconds of full throttle acceleration before boost drops to like 20psi...EGT's aren't too high either so I've got to look into why it's dropping boost. If I'm stopped I get up to about 120km/h at 32psi the whole time and then it drops to 20psi and starts climbing up to 24psi over a few seconds in 4th gear.

When cruising around 100 and going full throttle it will hit about 160-170km/h and then it does the same thing...boost drops to 20psi and starts creeping back up to 24 but it seems slow.

It's completely fine to drive around town/lots of fun for a quick pull and I would say 98% of people won't even notice what I'm describing above if their car was tuned this way since they likely get out of the throttle by the time I'm noticing the drop in boost. It gets better mpg than stock for sure, sounds great and I'll be driving it about 4000miles in the next three days with a trailer so that should say how reliable it is.

As an FYI this is a Megaspeed tune that has been loaded on my ECU.

I will be getting a third eye from a reliable BMW tuner state side hopefully soon so we can see if there is something we might have missed with the boost dropping after an extended full throttle acceleration.

I also would like to adjust fueling a bit more on startup and accel as I feel like it can be tweaked further.
