Golf GTI Leak Before Paris Debut!!

Today the first images of the Volkswagen Golf GTI MkVI have found their way to the net ahead of the model's planned unveiling at the Paris Motor Show next week. The model isn't due to be released on the market until Spring 2009, so we expect the show car to carry a concept label, but little will change once the model hits the production line.

Strong styling inspiration comes from the GTI W12 650 Concept starting with its wide reaching center grille. The front bumper features a one piece air intake and a set of fog lights that are so wide on the bumper they are almost on the fender panels, but do a great job of inducing a widebody appearance. The rear gets a twin exhaust set up housed around the diffuser whilst the popular GTI wheels from the MkV are retained for the new generation.

Technically the new GTI hasn't changed much, possibly to stop the model from stepping on the toes of the new Scirocco, the engine gets a power boost of 10bhp taking total output to 207bhp whilst emissions are down to just 11g/km. The improved figures were achieved with a new induction system and for the first time on a GTI, Volkswagen have introduced its new electronic limited-slip differential which they call XDS.

Okay, so the exterior isnt the most revolutinary compared to the last Golf... Still looks kinda cool with the dual exhaust!

What I really like is the interior and the STEERING WHEEL the most! Awesome stuff! I hope it drives aswell as the last one did!

ANd you can sort of see at the bottom of the interior pic that it gets the "classic" GTi cloth!! Thats awesome!

ok, exterior wise , its very similar to the previous model. They added the rear lights of the Tiguan/ Touareg, and they called it as the new Golf.

Thats Unicars...

They luck of imagination in their model range.

Just have a look in the Audi range. The front end is so similar between all models, A3/A4/TT/A5. You see an Audi approaching you, and you dont know what is it..

Interior = hot for a hatch!
Front = resembles the Mk4 and looks mean.
Rear = still has those BLAND rear lights. Twin exhausts and roof-spoiler help though.

Overall nice, though predictable. It will probably look a lot nicer in real-life. I just hate the fact that Golfs look bigger and blander as time passes. The Mk4 is still my favourite

eh. prefer the scirocco, although they look too similar now.

for a hatchback, though, the interior looks delicious...

The wife is already down for one of the first to hit N.Ireland, though she doesn't know it yet.

I'm trying to find out of her what colour she like best without giving the game away and then finalise the spec, when it's finally delivered I will take her shopping (any woman's favourite pass time) and stop in at the dealers on the way, just the looks at the new model (wink, wink) and then hand over the old one and give her the key of her new one.

If I don't get a shag that night I will f'ink divorce her.

Can't go wrong with that white! I love the way the red accents look contrasting onto the white.

I too like the white, as does my wife but she isn't the type to keep a car clean on the outside and I am not the kind of person who will be waxing the thing on a weekly basis.

Also I love the GTI cloth seats but have always had to go for the leather, the kids are all young and messy brutes. Frankly the price VW charge for their leather seats are ridiculous, the leather quality is poor compared to Audi and BMW yet their actually cost more....doesn't figure.

Its a golf. A good solid car. Nothing spectacular - in styling, interior or driving. Just a good all rounder.

If my budget was restricted to this level, this is most probably the car I would get.

+1, though in this case I actually really like the predictability. The taillights don't bother me at all. God this is a good looking car. These aren't the best photos of it though.

Actually I find the styling to be more exciting than the most current BMW designs, especially the 1 series and as for the driving experience, I think you will find that this Golf GTI will be a lot more entertaining than any previous versions. This one will have an electronic LSD, that means a lot less understeer than before and an even more adjustable chassis.

In fact I reckon this will be more entertaining than either the 1 series Coupe or the 3 series.

Needless to say I will be nicking the key off the wife at every opportunity.

I dunno bout that. RWD is hard to beat. My thinking is that it'll be more fun than most FWD and AWD cars.

Interior is killer and so is the front. The taillights are way too big and make it look like an suv in the rear
