My father has had his X5d for a couple of months now, and other than the rear exterior trim panels popping off constantly, and the idrive freezing once, it has been problem free.

Do you really expect anything less buying a car made in America? Be prepared for a few more reliability issues to come. I had an X5 and it was in the shop more than my garage.

I have the same issue. The noise is coming from the front center vents. It sounds like a faint clicking/ticking sound that comes and goes.

When I take my car in for service, I will mention it. I believe the blower needs to be replaced.

BMWNA chimed in on one of my threads a few weeks ago. I emailed them twice and never heard back.

I am with BMW of North America, LLC. Sorry for the delay, but I didn't realize you were back in the States. I've passed this message on to a BMW NA Customer Relations Representative who will be in touch with you soon.

My first hot summer w/ the x6, & 've noticed recently that in 30 o C hot summer weather, parked inside, dashboard temp gauge@100F(?) with only vent & fan on, the air vented in is hotter than 30oC! even with the temperature dialed to 18 o C. With the windows open, i get cooler air thru them then thru the vent. . Is this normal? that air thru the side windows' cooler then vented air? So i have to turn on air condirioner.

I had a noise coming from the front vent/i-Drive screen area on my 35d. After a bit of trial and error, the noise was coming from where the top of the idrive screen bezel touched the upper dashboard. The dealer added some felt in that area and the noise went away ....

All cars suffer from creaks and rattles for the most part. Both my 2008 E92 M3 and E46 M3 (both built in Germany) ... had awful rattles.

The location of the assembly plant should have little impact on reliability if the product is properly designed and engineered.
