Checo is so washed it's unbelievable at this point. He just got his doors blown off by a 42 year old in a vastly inferior car, complete and utter embarrassment.

RB needs to give that spot to the 42 year old and then maybe we could have a fun year of F1 for a change.

Long live Alonso, incredible!

True, but if you make no speculative statements at all, you're never wrong.

Still I would've liked to see what RIC could've done if he hadn't been hit with that tyre.
TSU did pretty good despite 1 or 2 mistakes; mistakes RIC might have not made.

Nearly lost my voice. What a drive. Best thing I’ve seen this year. Especially after a week of such moronic rumours.

Wolff today : Our car is #disasterclass !

But that wasn't like that at COTA with the Merc cheating floor ..
The Merc has to run now with a higher suspension setup , according to the FIA regulations !
Wolff urged the FIA for new floor regulations to screw MAX and the Red Bull Team .

As I said : Wolff shot himself in his own foot !

Mercedes vs Red Bull

Multiple people in this thread have all said what a great battle that was to watch.

Checo came from P9, fought hard against the merc's for a large portion of the race, wearing out his tires. Then he gets caught in dirty air for a while against one of the best defensive drivers on the grid, who had been running in clean air for nearly the entire race. And then Checo still manages to put up one hell of a fight at the end, pretty much tying up his battle for P2 in the driver championship.

And the only takeaway you've got is that RB needs a better driver so there's even less competition on the track?

RB19 is in top three most dominate cars in F1 history and he still can't get back on the podium. How many laps stuck behind Alonso, with two DRS zones?

Zero podiums in last 6 races, while his teammate has won 5 of those 6 races. 8 podiums in 20 races is pathetic, even the most diehard Checo fans have to admit that. He has lost his mojo.

Checo really likes Baku, you would think he will do well in Vegas. Likely his best chance for a podium.

Considering Checo’s teammate, who was in the exact same car, was already in Las Vegas by the time the 42 year old blew him off the road. Yes, he’s washed.

Miami Max destroyed him. Max retired him in Miami, it’s as clear as day.

I too believe that finishing second in the WDC equates to being washed up. I guess the only one not "washed" is Max. All the others after Perez are even worse. They should all pack up and head off to the German Touring Car Championship.

You watch anything other than the race this weekend? Checo ran a LOT closer to Max this weekend. He's taken his quali laps closer to 1-2 tenths off max's pace compared to 4-5 tenths previously. Literally every single commentator was impressed.

And in case you missed it, Checo finished higher in Q2 than Max... The only reason Checo started P9 is because RB sent him out LAST on his fast lap in Q3 and it started raining on him, then yellow flag as Piastri slid off track from the rain, while Max went out first and got a clean dry run. He finished 3rd in the sprint and would have definitely been there had he not lost tires because of traffic during the race.

I'm not super invested in Piastri and Ricardo, but I felt really bad that FIA didn't let them unlap themselves for the restart. They pitted under the safety car, which clearly should have been an immediate red-flag. They knew they needed time to repair those barriers and a safety car wasn't going to be enough. I'm sure it was all "per rules and regulations", but it was unnecessarily shitty for them.

You don't believe there are other drivers on the grid that could get more than 8 podiums in a car that has won 95% of the races? Hell there are drivers in other series that could do better, including other Mexicans(some seem worried about nationality). Checo's current form won't cut it next year. McLaren/Merc/Farrari are coming.
