I just read a thread last night on the F85 where some guys were saying the F85 is junk.

They want way too much $ for a GLE63, and I haven't been able to find a good example of an F85 for under $70. The problem I'm having is that these were so limited in production that now to find a good clean example is more than I can afford.
I was really high on the F10s, F06s, and the F85s for a while but really cooled off on all of them. The F85s out there that are under $70K either don't have the options I want or have a ton of miles. Plus the issues those guys are having with the wheels clicking and the brake squeal sound like a nightmare. I'm tired of getting cars I have to fix constantly...I feel like that's been a common theme with all my BMWs...but I just can't see myself in a Merc. no matter how sweet they are...and they are.

I was looking at Comp. Pack F80s as well for a while but decided against that as well. Starting to seem like I don't know what I want so I'm still beating up on this E70. First-world problems...

Yeah, I feel like E70s are bottoming out. The 16s you're looking at still have ways to go. That's a good strategy.
Totally.

I think the problem we all have is that the E70 is just an awesome ride. Mine has been bulletproof and people (the general public) think it's a new car. When I tell people it's a 2011 they scratch their heads. In the speed department it's in a league of its own. Handling, it's glued. The stance with those wide ass tires looks beastly. The utility, the safety, the comfort, it's really remarkable. Just the sheer back to basics joy of driving, I love this car.

To think I have to sell it for $25K and replace it with something three times as expensive but only marginally better is not super exciting.

I agree with you 100% except mine hasn't been as reliable as I would have liked it to. Also, the comfort suffered due to the big wheels and drop in ride height but that one is on me.

I didn't want to derail your other thread so I'll use this one as a free bump.

You mind sharing some brief thoughts of your F85 test drive? I know the interior and tech are on another planet but I'm more interested in the seat-of-the-pants power, speed, etc.? Comparing your modded E70 M (not sure what you have in it) vs. the stock F85.

Cheers!

Just back from dealer with clean bill of health.

For 30K you get the ride, the HRE's, the Megan, the Velos Tune, new pads and rotors (front), and the invaluable bumper to bumper exclusionary Platinum protection Carchex warranty expiring January of 2020. Car has 58,323 miles.

If you find a better deal, I'll match it.

If you don't need the warranty, I'm happy to lower the price by $1456.86.

Currently at 59,000 miles, a Megan Racing Exhaust, and H&R lowered with HRE wheels. Warranty until January 2020 or 105K miles. Also brand new front pads and rotors and rear pads purchased from Jim Faulk BMW, 3 months ago? Have invoice.

I'm thinking if I should do a whole new spread or if should just trade it in?

If you don't mind my asking, why did you change out the exhaust to Megan from Eisenmann?

Eisenmann is the boss of boss. That said, I thought it was way too loud and a bit on the heavy side.

The Megan gives the ride an unbelievable sound without projecting it through my neighbors walls and into their breakfast cereal.

Do you still have stock wheels? Price without the HREs?

Also confused about the warranty. Original post says September of 2020/105,000, but most recent comment says January 2020?

Hey!

Yes, you are correct and I will make the change. I initially thought it was September - this was years ago!

The warranty expires in January of 2020 or 105K.

I do not have the stock wheels but I have a couple of guys who reached out and would like to purchase the HRE's and can send stock wheels.

I'm happy to customize the sale any way you like. I can bring the car back to stock and cancel the warranty and sell it for $26+-? You'll still have the tune of course, can't sell that!
