Help with tire sizes for 22"

Hi Chris,
First, what year is your X5, and what wheels do you have on your X5 now?

Here is a database of BMW wheels:

If they are original BMW wheels and are in the database, you can see the offsets, and calculate from that.

I'm going to assume for sake of these calculations that you have style 214 and an E70 (one of the favorite and most common for the E70) and the specs are:
Front: 10x20 ET40 from BMW and 9x22 ET20 New

You will have 33mm more space between your inner wheel lip and the suspension, and 7mm less between the outer wheel lip and the edge of the fender, so you will not need a spacer.

Rear: 11x20 ET37 from BMW and 10.5x22 ET25 New

You will have 21mm more space between your inner wheel lip and the suspension, and 9mm less between the outer wheel lip and the edge of the fender, so you will not need a spacer.

Your new wheels will be pushed out toward the outside of the X5 a little bit, and you will have more space between the inside of the wheels and your suspension.

BE SURE to check the hub bore on your new wheels and make sure it is the same as your X5. Here is a list of the sizes by X5 type:
