Realize this thread is a bit old... but nice!

Is the wrap real CF fabric, real fabric but not real carbon fiber, or something like 3M dry carbon diNoc?

Had to dig this up. I'm getting CF wrapped in my x5. Got a quote for $150. I'm going to miss the wood finish but it's getting hairline cracks in it. The CF will be a nice cheap upgrade to the interior. Can't wait.

Pretty cool, I think I even know where u ordered all this stuff
couple of questions:
1. do I see light blue LED stripes installed?
2. cover for the shifter (is it a wrap?)

I'll appreciate if u have links...

Thank you

Does anybody know where to order the carbon wrap back in the Z3 post? I have to admit that material looks pretty nice for a wrap. I am pretty picky, but I think the wrap would look cleaner and more modern than my current wood grain.

IMPRESSIVE. Not to take over the thread, but just to give you a small idea of the effort involved (for a novice like me)...I just wrapped all the aluminum pieces and it was TEDIOUS to get it right WITH all the trim removed. And I'll admit, I think I only got 97% of it looking how I wanted. The only piece I did in place was the glovebox trim, but I had both side vents removed and that made it much easier.

I started wrapping back in March and did just about all the pieces at least twice to get them decent. I can see doing straight lines easily, especially if you can tuck the edges down into a gap that gives way, like the edge at the top of the trim to door panel. The most important tool to me was a very sharp exacto knife, they are easy to dull the second it touches non-film. Next critical you need a heat gun. What's hard are the corners and you have to use your heat gun to stretch over and around the corner such that the tension doesn't want to unpeel the film (and there are no wrinkles). When you cut the excess you need leave enough to provide tension, but not to much that your stuff doesn't fit back in place properly. Some film stick well like 3M 2080, but I still needed a 'sealitpen' in some places. Other brands were very stiff and unpeeled quickly or needed a lot more heat...these brands you don't want to use for small parts.

In the pic below, I wrapped the shifter 4 times in carbon (non-3M, edges unraveled easily, even with sealitpen), three times in 3M gloss black. The 3M worked well each time, I just messed up twice. There are 9 wrapped pieces in the shifter shot; The shifter button surround (on left side) is also wrapped. Also hard to see is the radio console trim wrapped and the silver trim under the vents. The second shot is of the door panels and rear console. I use the putty tool to seat film in crevices.

I'm mostly done on the interior, but haven't put back the shifter console trim b/c I'm still playing around with an updated Android Monitor I just installed.

Hope to hear from some posters that are more experienced than I...

From my untrained eye, it looks good!

I would've gladly swapped out my wood trim with your aluminum and called it a day

I have carbon leather, but the aluminum trim I wrapped is under the carbon leather trim...now it's all blacked out w exception to a couple areas. I used a lot of gloss black, some matte aluminum, and deep flat black across the interior. See door panel below...

Looks fantastic!

The gloss black with the carbon fiber looks awesome. Makes me want to do the same. I think that since I used gloss carbon fiber wrap tho, gloss black would be too much. Maybe a flat black would work.

Wrapping is definitely a tedious process. I removed all my trim with the exception of the glove box and I have one or two areas I need to rewrap. Maybe I can get to it this week.

Oh man, a matte black under your gloss trim would be cool...would love to see what you come up with. FWIW, 3M's 2080 M22 Matte Deep Black matches the center console black plastic trim. That's what I used for EDC plate under the shifter. I also got a sample of the 1080 DM12 Dead Matte Black which is a lighter shade than the Deep Black. I think I'll use the dead matte black on the diffuser...some day...
