N63 One Step Colder Plug options

Hi everyone, I just picked up a 2013 E70 xDrive50i M-sport a few months back. I just installed a Racechip GTS Black Edition last weekend and I noticed the maps were all a little rough at low RPMs. I was talking with Ben from RG Sport, and he suggested it might be the plugs. I haven't changed them since I bought the vehicle and I would assume they are probably the original plugs. Ben suggested one step colder plugs since the tune. I was wondering if there is a compilation of all plugs we are able to use for the N63 and if they are OEM, one step colder or two? Excuse me if this is available, I feel like I looked everywhere.. thanks in advance!

Ngk 5992 1 step
Ngk 97506 2 step

I would use 97506 (I am on my x5m).

I am the NGK 97506 myself too but I would highly recommend you get new coils too along with the new plugs. They are the main culprit for misfires (next to injectors). Get the Eldor coils from FCPEuro as they are superior to the stock Bosch and Delphi coils.

If you ever decide to go for a tune too, highly recommend ESS tuning. Completely changes the truck!

Thanks to both of you, I was chatting with someone from ECS Tuning and ended up getting NGK 97506 along with Bavauto 5005 coils

Cool, let us know how those work out. Also pickup a cigarette lighter voltmeter. The E70 has an absolutely stupid charging algorithm in it's "intelligent" battery charging program. I have watched the voltage dip below 11 volts under cruise and full throttle conditions. Turning on your foglamps overrides this and will put out a constant 12.6+ volts

To put in perspective how important 2 volts is: 2 volts is approx 6,000 to 7,000 volts at the spark plug. This can be the difference between the sparkplug working or not under boost conditions.

That's crazy! Never even heard of that, but thanks for the suggestion!

Update - just got my voltmeter in, running constantly between 13.8-14.1

You might also consider tightening the gap on the plug too as your tuned from the oem gap. It reduces the chance of the spark not jumping the gap and having misfires under high load/temps. Since your old plugs were worn the gap typically opens as the electrodes erode. So try the stock gap, then move to a tighter gap if the plug swap doesn't help.

If you still have issues with the tune, I'll mention I'm using Bosch ZR5TPP33 on both my 16 N63TU 550i and 11 S63 X5M with good results, both are stock tunes, so those work in the 450-550hp range.

That's a good point too, do you know what the gap should be on a tuned n63? I think I read somewhere it was .20?

That's correct. I'm running the NGK 97506 on my stage 2 X5 M and they are gapped to 0.020". Runs noticeably better than when I was running the OEM Bosch plugs.
