Cooling system question

Would my fan going on and off at high speed every 5 mins mean waterpump failing? If so when changing the waterpump and thermostat what else should be change ?

I would expect not; however, check your air conditioning system pressure(s).

I would say so. How old is the car and how many miles? Has it ever been changed?

Could be your temp sensor that controls the fan. It's on the passenger side coolant return line down low on radiator, it just snaps in. Usually when these fail, the fan defaults to high speed so it could be going out on ya. Super easy to replace

Mine is a 2012 and water pump failed at around 55k miles. Driving in city does that to you.

Mine sounded just like this in the beginning of the video

At a stop light, it would sound like a jet engine ready to take off.

i agree.. had the same problem with my E46 M3.. there were no problem with the pump.. sensor was faulty reading faulty numbers.. and it was keeping the fan at max speed all the time..
