Can’t you check the injector duty cycle with INPA and compare it to each other.

just spent 2,000 euros on new injectors and its still the same f%ck, cleared all the codes ,put it on a legit Rheingold no errors at all so nothing to test , except the backfiring is the same.why cant I fix this? surely it has to be something mechanical

You said the exhaust flaps don't open. So the vacuum lines are connected wrong, pinched or unplugged?

Just fyi I rented out my N63 toolkit last month and learned it is possible to mess the DME software completely while doing the project. That car threw multiple Vanos codes, cam retarded codes and run very rough after the seal replacement. He took the other bank open again but everything was fine there.

It turned out that somehow DME/ECU was messed up. After re-programming the whole car it started to run fine again. Might be there was a wiring harness grounding issue at some point that caused the DME issue.

Newby here. I’m going through a N63 valve stem replacement with BMW Montgomery right now. FYI after speaking with the shop foreman, BMW has released the 3rd revision to the CCP. Pretty much a pain in rear process.

I am going through the valve stem seal process right now as well. The repair is scheduled for some time in late January. In addition to the repair, the dealer has recommended 'coolant lines off turbo chargers, y pipe between the cylinder heads, and oil return cover under the turbos' for $2,918.

They've also recommended 'coolant hose replacement' for $1,199. They claim the labor is reduced from 12 hours to 8 hours on the first set of items, I did not get a breakdown on the second (coolant hoses).

I find these prices to be extremely high based on my understanding of parts cost; would assume that additional labor would be negligible given how dismantled the engine will be to perform the stem seal repair.

Can you expand on the 'third CCP' that your dealer has referenced? It might be useful to those going through the same process. My take is that BMW is looking to recuperate as much as possible while they make the mandated class action repairs...

The tech was pretty tight lipped about the whole process but basically they start with the oil consumption test and go from there compression tests etc. Essentially I was shooting for them to say it needed an engine replacement but didn’t meet the criteria. BMWNA will cover a percentage of the required repairs base on mileage. If possible I recommend getting it started prior to 80k cause after that, out of pocket goes from 30 to 45%. I think the magic number on the oil consumption test was 1.3L used after 750 miles. Mine was 1.63L used and they came back with the valve stem seals and oil separator.

On top of that, recent had all the coolant hoses and clamps replaced as well. Definitely didn’t expect it to be that much but the tech walked me through everything that had to come apart to get to two hoses. $300 in parts and $1000 in labor.

Since I’m having the valve stem seals done and the top end will be apart, I talked them into doing injectors, plugs, and coils with no additional labor cost.
