Installing lowering springs

Anyone done this themselves? I will be doing the bump stops as well... probably a lot easier with a lift? I would be using a jack and stands. Any useful advice?

Use a laser level and mark it on the top hat and the lower fork area. Aligning these two is yhe hardest, second is finding a competent tech to do a wheel alignment. GL

Make sure before you losen the top mounts in the front to mark the location. you should be fine on jack stands for the front and rear but its a bitch to get the lower part fo the strut mount out.

I was offered to have it done for $350, and that's for the bump stops on the rear too... good deal? Or should I do it myself?

Garage List
I've done an e10, e46, B6A4, B8S4, Jeep GC, 68 vw...that front end of the X5M scared me, so I paid a shop. Just seemed like a lot to remove to get to simple things...

I could be getting lazy in my old age too.

That sounds like a good price considering the amount of work involved. I paid $230 locally in Bahrain. As you can see in my thread it was a bit involved.

Yeah, I think I'll just pay for it... I'm still exhausted from installing my downpipes, haha

Thats good price consider to replace front and rear bump stops, one of closee buddy charges me between $200-$300,Im curious for you guys replacing the lower springs.. what strut, shock do you use? you guys reuse the old shocks? or replace with the new one?

Also what chance if your X5 comes with adjustable soft, hard button shocks? those adaptive drive shock aint cheap man, wholesale price about $800 buks USD a piece.

And remember once you remove spring and shocks out, find out your old shocks bad, or wont rebounce back you gotta replace those shocks man theres no way you can pull them out by tools, or hands.

That's a good price to get all that done. I should be installing lowering springs the end of this month.
