thanks, it was a baby deer, so it only got the hood a little and the right grill. The painted grill turns out really well, but that's my buddy, the paint perfectionist.

I installed powerstop ceramic pads since mine were down to 3mm. We shall see how much they improve dust, so far they feel very similar to the pads I just took off.

After this long with the pads, no difference in performance that I notice, and brake dust is nil.

Everyone should be running these.

2/17/18 - I had a CIC go bad, so I replaced it.

From there when going to program the CIC I found other issues. The original issue, the CIC was unavailable on the network, now I can see the CIC, but I cannot see the amp, the Bluetooth, and the antenna module. I found water leak from a uninstalled harness 'tube' on the left back hatch that was allowing water to drain directly on top of the amp. I opened the amp up and found damage internally. The amp going bad more then likely backfed into the CIC and took it out. I am going to replace the amp in a few weeks, once I find a cheap used one.

If you look into my signature you will see 1995 Ford Thunderbird. That's where I get it. She has some things wrong, but mostly she just runs as she it was designed.

This failure is human caused, not BMW caused, so I don't fault anything they have done. I think it had a rear collision and the back hatch was replaced. When I bought it I had to buy a rear license plate bracket, and there was other things they just felt like body shop techs putting a car back together.

as of February, I found out why the CIC went bad. The harness 'tube' on the left side of the rear hatch was allowing water to leak into the left hand compartment and on top of the amp. So once I had my replacement CIC, the fiber network came back up, and the CIC modules began communicating on the network. Once that happened the amp wasn't responding on the network, and the network was still incomplete. So once we got back and found the water leak, we found the amp had a good bit of water damage. I removed the cover and found damage on the network board of the amp. So needless to say I am on the hunt for an amp. Of course I have the Hifi with DSP amp witch is a bit less common then any of the other amps I have come across.

oil change at 110k.

I am still running 15w-50 Mobile 1. It is great. Saving a good bit of money over the Castrol

6/1/2018 - Picked up a used amp, coded it to the truck, and now the sound system is back and running.

Still trying to repair the water leak. Have a temporarily fix to keep the water off of the modules and out of the network connectors, but still needs to be addressed.

9/10/18 - Airbag and Fuel pump recalls completed at Rockville BMW. Underwhelming service experience. I had a base model X5 35i, and I am glad I have a 50, though the 35i is nice, quick and a good truck that handles well, it does not corner as flat as my truck and is considerably slower. I let my wife drive it and she liked how it drove, showing at least in regards to the new 35i, its basically girlfriend mode compared to E70's IMO.

I am trying to talk her into one for her next ride but she doesn't seem to want one.

118,XXX miles currently

Not much to update. 137,XXX on my truck. Still rocking 15-50 Mobile threw her, she still burns oil. I still change it at 10,000 miles anyways. I may switch to filter swaps at this point. With my e34 I don't have much desire to modify this. I just want to maintain, witch is almost a first for any vehicle I have ever had. It speaks volumes to how much I like this truck. I think if it ever blows up (engine, transmission, transfer case or differentials) I will actually repair it. I enjoy how it drives. A lot

6-1-20 - I changed the #6 injector on the truck because of a misfire.

The rear glass smashed when the hatch was closing.

bought new in engine bay trim pieces that cover the HVAC housing, the middle of the engine bay, and the brake system components. The old ones are quite broken
