Dialedin, I’ve seen those e-dash displays floating around the internet, thought it was very cool but I was skeptical. How does it perform?

I don't know how it performs yet as it is freshly installed.

I like that it shows you the coolant temp, oil temp and oil level. And it brings a more modern feel to the entire car.

15% ceramic. They laid that over the factory privacy glass so it’s like limo tint in the rear 😂

I’ll take some tomorrow.

Finally got my new summer wheels installed! Took forever to get a square setup of 437m's off an F8x M car. Bored the centers to 74.1 and refinished the lips. Dropped almost 11lbs per corner with these wheels . The X5 is in desperate need of a bath but I've run out of time in the weekend. Original weight was 65lbs with the 467s and the same 255/50R19 DWS's.

Those look fantastic and I LOVE the loss of the unsprung weight!
Are you going to put lowering springs on at all? It would look pretty amazing... more so that is!

Thanks! I've been building up the image in my head for months as I put the set together. So pleased with the results.

No plans to lower. This is my mountain/tow vehicle so I want to keep the ride height stock.

Pulled off the PPF on my car in preparation for full polish and ceramic coat.
It’s going to be a project as I want to do that, clean the wheels and coat them, paint the gross calipers and brake hubs as they’re surface rusted.

Yeah, I get that. I'm the same way with ours. I love the idea of how it would look with a lower ride height, but we definitely need the clearance for the occasional drive up the mountain roads.

Having used the digital cluster for a little while I will revert back to the stock cluster.

1) I have a diesel with a 5500 RPM rev limit, the cluster has an 8000 RPM rev limit better suited for a petrol car.

2) I can't calibrate the speedometer with Perfekt Toolbox to read the accurate speed. I really enjoy having the accurate/GPS speed displayed.

3) The firmware is locked. I could edit the firmware as it is a simple .zip archive with a bunch of text and image files to fix the above mentioned issues, but the .zip file is password protected. The password is likely in Chinese characters and impossible to crack. Others have tried to crack the password before me.

Gear selector has refused to slip over to M/S for a while now so I bought a used one on ebay. 15 min to swap units and I can finally get back to sport mode. Easy fix and I managed not to break anything else in the process.

Swapped out passenger side crankcase ventilation hose. It was broken off and leaking oil.

Not exciting but I swapped out the loading sill for a new one. The original sill had broken plastic bits that held tension on the springs to keep the sil firmly against the tailgate when open. Once they were all broken, the sill flapped around and annoyed the hell out of me. No more!

Found a nifty trick over on e90 forums. My garage opener is too new and the signal wouldnt work with the homelink in the car. However the homelink modules from the 2012+ F cars with the claw mount is compatible.

I purchased a 2013 F01 mirror, popped the trim off and removed the module and wire. This module has 3 wires and FCC ID ends in HL4.

https://flic.kr/p/2pJiX8n

I repeated the same process on the current mirror. The original module to the mirror is only 2 wires and the FCC ID ends in HL3. Simple swap. The connectors are the same and it plugs right in. Mirror now had no problem pairing to the garage.

DPF delete question on down pipe.

Does anyone know what goes on the pipe with the blue silicone hose on it? This is a new down pipe from Speed Power Shop? I know on the original DPF there are two tubes that had coolant running to it, but now that will be looped out. Not sure if I missed a vacuum line?

So the mirror part number is 51169224345, which RealOEM lists as the following compatibility:

5' F07 GT   (09/2008 — 06/2013)
5' F10   (01/2009 — 10/2016)
6' F06 Gran Coupé   (05/2011 — 02/2015)
6' F12   (11/2009 — 02/2015)
6' F13   (03/2010 — 02/2015)
7' F01   (09/2007 — 06/2012)
7' F02   (07/2007 — 06/2012)
7' F04 Hybrid   (10/2008 — 05/2012)
i8 I12   (03/2013 — 10/2017)
X3 F25   (07/2009 — 08/2017)
Ghost RR4   (08/2008 — 11/2019)

However, mirrors on cars before the MY2012 do not have the correct Homelink module inside. I initially bought a F10 mirror from a 2011 car and the Homelink module was the exact same as what is in our E70s.

Ebay has tons of mirrors. I would just search using the key words from the list above instead of using part number. Many list the donor car, others dont and require you to ask the seller prior. This is how I got mine. Just be aware of the mounts. You need a mirror with the rotating arm like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/39520149364...Bk9SR-Ky9IXZYw

You still need to check with the seller to make sure the car was a 2012 or newer but half the battle is the correct mount.

If the mirror has a mount like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/14549580773...Bk9SR-Ky9IXZYw
-the connections at and inside the mirror are not compatible.

Transfer case and differential fluids changed.. what a difference, I guess the latter had never been changed before.😕
To drive home and back the shop gave me an..Audi A2, manual transmission...a royal pita🤣...could hardly "untie" my legs trying to get out of it.

Tuesday to come both driver and passenger airbags will be replaced.
