I think I commented earlier in the thread that I was surprised his name didn't come up for any of the open jobs, even on a speculation basis. Maybe they did and I missed the news. If I were FL or Tennessee I would have started with him. Maybe they did and he wasn't interested.

The problem with Chizik and also Larry Coker is that other than having a gift thrown in your lap where you have the best players in America transfer to or assembled for you, they have appalling records all other years.

I'm shocked to see Auburn even giving Chizik the job after his craptacular work at Iowa State.

he needs to hold out, possibly for a year for something better. He'll get a major gig soon enough. There's hot seats everywhere in college football every year at some big schools. Next up: USC and LSU. Though the Oregon job just opened up.

There's not enough eligible and good coaches out there now. Do what Ohio State did back in 2011, take a year off, assign an interim and then go all out the next year.

Anyway, FSU had to go with Taggart after losing out on Shannon, who went to UCF as DC. Also nice to see Gators get their third choice.

Yeah, no whales to get this time around unfortunately. It's a tough call coming off a horrible season. Recruiting has plummeted and the fear of having another .500 season next year with an interim will only dig us deeper in the hole. Recruiting will suffer again two years in a row and then we have to hope the whale appears and we land him. By then if all goes as planned it will be three years or so before we look decent again.

Yep! He better get rid of Charles Kelly. He should've been gone two years ago.

i still think the jury is out on Taggert. Not enough sample size at a big school to show that he can get it done consistently. Only 1 10-win season on record. I say pass.

I still think you should assign an interim and try again next year. Or go after Sumlin hard.

Sumlin has been a head coach for 10 seasons and has only won 10 games in 3 of those (2 out of those 3 being at Houston). Did do a good job recruiting, but that didn't seem to translate into wins. That said, he was a great fit for A&M when he was hired and did a great job leading us into the SEC. I hope he finds a good landing spot and does well

Speculation FSU may steal our WR coach, who played for FSU when Richt was OC there and also coached under Taggart at USF. He's a good recruiter. We can replace a WR coach but if he leaves I hope he does it for a promotion not a lateral move.
