'13 BMW X6M Akrapovic Exhaust, Down Pipes, ECU Upgrade, Vorsteiner & Hamann spoilers
On this X6M, it was decided that it not only needed to be faster but also lighter while turning heads at the same time. Luckily for our customer, the Evolution exhaust, Active Autowerke ECU Upgrade and H&R springs, the first parts on the to do list, will allow us to do just that.
Parts Installed: Active Autowerke Performance ECU Upgrade Akrapovic Down Pipes Akrapovic Carbon Fiber Tips Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust System Hamann X6 Rear Spoiler Hamann Roof Spoiler Vorsteiner VRS Aero Carbon Fiber Front Spoiler H&R Lowering Springs The Exhaust To start things, off it was time to get the stock exhaust system off the X6M and get it breathing better. To do this, everything past the turbos was removed to make way for the Akrapovic Evolution Turbo-back system. Since this is an X-pipe based system, it will increase low to mid-range power while producing a deeper exhaust note that the stock system lacks. To top off those already impressive extras, the entire system, with the exception of the down pipes, is crafted from light weight titanium, freeing up nearly 50 pounds in one swap. So it will not only flow smoother, increase power, and sound better, it will be significantly lighter. All stock One of our favorite sites here at GMP: Boxes filled with brand new parts! Time to get to it! The old verus the new. I don't know about you but looking at this picture alone, you can tell it going to be lighter. In it goes, one by one. The whole system Tips on and it's done Part 2 of the exhaust comes by way of ECU upgrade. Due to the down-pipes being cat-less, the ECU had to be re-calibrated. Active Autowerke not only has a ECU upgrade to take care of that but will also give a nice gain in overall performance. New Springs After the power and sound were taken care of it was time to move on to the handling. A set of H&R springs will work perfectly to not only get the X6M closer to the ground but also provides a nice smooth ride. Stock The old versus new And the new one all installed The Spoilers This car is a beauty stock but when you begin to add quality parts like those from Hamann and Vorsteiner, you are guaranteed to push the car's looks that much further. And it works! Before: Stock And after, with the Hamann and Vorsteiner additions The rear spoilers and the front spoiler All in all, this X6M is quite stunning. The customer loves it and we really feel like we accomplished all the goals set before us; its lighter, more powerful, and it will definitely turn some heads. Don't forget to comment and let us know what you think! Last edited by GMP Performance; 03-08-2013 at 09:57 AM.. |

Love those wheels on the Alpine White, looks amazing. Great pics, btw.
And I am partial to the Mugello Red interior, I have the same one - looks sick! |

This is a 2013...unless you retrofitted the '13 headlamps to a '12...
Why no coilovers? Ride will be harsh

IF it was retrofitted though, do you have a kit for purchase?

Our client opted for the H&R Springs due to the excessive cost of the KW V3 for EDC cars, and did not see the coilover adjustments as necessary since he has another car with coilovers for track use. The H&R springs are surprisingly compliant on the X6. We have installed them on several BMW's and not had any complaints from our customers on the ride quality. It adds a more aggressive stance without causing much, if any, negative impact on comfort, which is exactly what our client wanted. Unfortunately, we do not.
