Anyone coded their car themselves?

If so, which cable did you use and what options have you changed?

I have just started looking into this; looking to get my K+DCAN cable soon.

I have a 35i. I haven't gotten into what is available but these are things now I would like to change: (or some variation of the below based on what is available)

1. Be able to close the liftgate from the key fob
2. Turn everything off when the key is removed (climate control, entertainment)
3. Unlock all doors when the vehicle is parked and the drivers door is opened/key removed
4. automatically fold mirrors in when parked/key removed, fold out when started back up
5. Window control either from key fob (be able to open or close from the fob) or when vehicle turned off (automatically put windows up)

Get the Carly app and an obd bluetooth adapter. I did all of this with that app. Super simple.

Thanks. I have looked into Carly. It looks like they have changed their model though to be a yearly subscription service starting this year.

Too bad Bimmercode is not compatible with the E70. Pay a 1 time fee of $26.99 to unlock and code all the cars you want on your Andriod or iOS device. Super easy for both the novice & expert. I almost went with iCarly, but a yearly subscription? Fugetaboutit

It took me a long time to get all the files and understand how to code with the computer. Luckily I do have Carly and grandfathered in so I don't have to pay subscription. I would rather code with Carly than my computer at this point.

Don't forget the 2 most important - killing off the iDrive disclaimer and seat belt chimes!

It just bought the Carly OBD Wifi Adapter and app. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it looks promising. I purchased it to disable DLRs on my E46 M3 after installing AEs. Hopefully I'll have some time this evening to give it a try.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the price and how much is the yearly fee?

Like a battery tender? Trickle charger? Or a full up charger on the battery? I tried to code the other day (using carly) and it said my voltage was to low. I did not want to leave the car running while I coded, so I abandoned the process for the day.

I got the device off of amazon $72.00, the yearly fee is $59, you can cancel if you don't need to code anymore. The problem is the dealer seems to wipe out the coding when they do any type of checkup that connects to the computer.

It was $80 for the device and a year of the app usage is $50. I have an 11 X5 35D, 02 M3 and am currently shopping for an X5M so I think it'll be a useful investment(I hope!).
