X5 e70 Trunk problem

Hello, I have a e70 2013 3.5 x5. Recently the trunk stopped openning. When I press the botton on the console or on the trunk it self it release the locks and opens approximately 5-10 cm and then closes back by itself. Even if i try to pull the trunk up it resists and closes back. Any suggestions?

Mine did this several years ago and I ended having to get the struts replaced. Don't know exactly why, but BMW replaced them free of charge, so I don't know if it's a known issue or what.

I had exactly the same issue 2 years ago. Purchased 2 used struts through an online junk yard I found through car-part.com for $200 total for both. Only installed one side as I could tell which one seemed dead. Threading the harness through the hatch was the trickiest part, but it's still a very straightforward diy. Took 30-40 min total.

Been working flawlessly ever since. Dealership wanted around $500 just for one installed.

I coded my remote to close the trunk with iCarly. Still a ripoff, but works well for that kind of stuff.
