hello all bimmers,

i would like to ask you all for the advice of my AC. the problem is when the first engine start, i have to increase the accelerator few times to get cold air. some people say the cause of the old compressor which need to be replaced. as you all know it is not cheap, so i would like to know the exact root cause. anybody has experience/advice are greatly appreciated.

If your low on refrigerant the only way to fill it to proper factory spec is to evacuate the system and weigh in the factory charge. Also you could of lost some oil in the compressor which will need to be topped off. I wouldn't trust those stupid refrigerant in a cans because I'm sure bmw runs different pressures/temperatures than other manufactures, and not to mention it's technically illegal to handle refrigerant on any ac system with out a license from the EPA.

I'm all for diys but refrigerant systems should be handled by the professionals. There's a whole lot more to the process than you think. So you should have a professional licensed technician for car ac systems check to be sure your low on refrigerant and run a pressure test to be sure there isn't a serious leak.
