I am pulling the trigger on the Upgraded 10.25 Screen. Any Install Advice?

I decided to get the Avin 10.25 screen. I think it will look good as an upgrade to my 2013 X5. I just wanted to ask all those that bought it if they had any additional advice? I read some people said to buy another Mic or use just use the car's mic? Do I need to reroute any wires? Anything else I am missing on the install? Thanks for any advice!

I just installed mine the other day. So far it's ok. I purchased the GPS splitter which works perfectly.

iDrive works in certain parts of the UI but not as well as I was expecting. Volume control works great from the steering wheel, but next/previous doesn't. I have to open the included music app and press the buttons. Then it will work in Spotify. Haven't tried other music apps yet.

Bluetooth on the unit is locked down so you can't really connect to any BT devices besides a phone. I'm using this USB OBD scanner to connect with Torque which works great and connects almost immediately. Bought this to hide it away under the dash.

Haven't experimented with making phone calls with it yet so can't say how that works. It hears my voice fine for using Google Assistant etc.

I installed mine about two months ago and the only pain point for me was the short optical cable from my car that inserts into the main wiring harness that then plugs into the CD unit. The short cable prevented me from properly inserting the main CD unit back into its original position so I bought this from amazon to extend it and that solved my issue:

Have had mine for over a year and I don't really use the Android anymore. Wanted to use waze on the bigger screen but now I just keep in in normal BMW mode. So basically I just got a nicer screen but kept the native BMW functions. I use Waze on my phone.

I noticed being parked on hot sunny days in Socal the unit would act buggy. I was guessing the tablet was getting too hot and would not function correctly so I didn't like that.

Funny, I initially bought it also to use Waze and CarPlay. Turns out I also just default to the normal mode.

I complained quite a bit on the original thread about not being able to sync the oem v monitor volume. Years later I realized it was user-error and now have it synched. My error was in adjusting the monitor volume and not hitting the BACK button after adjustment which I now realize saves the settings. FAIL.

I too have carplay, etc. but mostly use the OEM mode. On long trips I'll use WAZE on the monitor. I wish I could have my NAV and Voice buttons back to OEM.

I just purchased an AVIN unit(they are having a black friday special) with the CarPlay adapter. I recently leased a 2019 i3 which has wireless CarPlay and absolutely love how well it works. Hopefully the AVIN CarPlay experience is good as well, though I don't expect it to be perfect.

Yep, never had any issues with the HUD after the install.

Earlier today I ordered an AVIN unit as well, I'm hoping that it works better than the unichip i just removed this evening. I had more issues with that thing than any one else. The screen would go black intermittently, the audio during a phone call was crackling no matter what I did, and it wouldn't CarPlay wouldn't connect to my phone at times and I would have to do a reset on the unichip device. Tried their support and they gave me a firmware update that didn't do a damn thing.

Can't wait for AVIN!
