PureTurbos Stage 2 installed

Finally! Was able to get my Pureturbos stage 2 upgrade installed on my X5M.

Big thanks to Sophisticated Redneck for answering a shit ton of questions for me. Thanks to jandref321 for creating the multiple DIY threads for the removal and install of the stock turbos, helped me in a few situations. Thanks also to FrakenM & M5James for help as well.

Pictures below, but one thing to note is that I am pretty sure that everyone's Plastic Y pipe will eventually fail if it isnt replaced with a brass or stainless steel one. My motor was replaced (when under the ownership of the previous owner) at 69K miles. I bought the car at 70K miles (on chassis, 1k on the new block). I am surprised that in just 20K miles (now im at 90k), My plastic Y had failed. You will see pics of the crystalized antifreeze on my oil return pipes....what a mess.

Other than that, everything went well. I bought a endoscope/borescope to check the Y fitting and the oil return lines after the install to confirm no leaks.

I have also flashed the DME to my new tune which turns up the boost to 22psi. I have not yet Dyno'd, I have not even pushed the car past 10psi yet.

I do plan to install a meth kit soon. I'll Dyno afterwards.

Here is the failed Y connection, and its stainless steel replacement.

The Plastic Y literally fell apart when I touched it.

For Turbo to Charge pipe, ID of silicone hose is 2-3/8"

I used HPS HTSC-238-BLK: https://www.amazon.com/HPS-HTSC-238-...ustrial&sr=1-1

For Charge pipe to Intercooler, Silicone hose ID is 2.25"

I used HPS HTSC-225-BLK: https://www.amazon.com/HPS-HTSC-225-.../dp/B004NXIYIK

You will want to use 2.25" Clamp (x4) on Turbo to Charge pipe Silicone hose and 2.5" clamp (x4) on Charge pipe to Intercooler Silicone hose.

Well I’m doing pretty much the same build but I was on the fence about stage 1 or 2. I just ordered stage 1 last Friday.

I have a Dinan II and running JB4 tune as well.

Did everything about the leaking coolant lines last summer before my engine blow this summer.

I’ll get a list going with what I’ve done. Sofisticated redneck is also helping. He is 3D printing a bunch of stuff for me.

jimmy at Pure Turbos said I should have them 1st week of November…..

Larger turbo intakes, front ram air inlets, 3 pod gauge cluster that fits in to the dash vent.

Redneck is a great source of info. I paid for his knowledge and I hope everything I did will all come together in the next few weeks. I get my X5 back tonight and start bolting shit on. Should be interesting trying to get it up my steep driveway with no brakes…pizza and beer for a bunch of neighbors I hope. Might take 10 guys to get it up the driveway.

Nice numbers on the dyno at just 18psi, at 22 it should be a beast! Are you going to run a mix of race gas or use any octane booster in for the 22psi run? I have mine at 18psi right now too and my fuel trims are maxxed if I mix in a 3 gallons of E85 so if you take it to 22psi I would keep on eye on your air fuel ratios if you use any E85 with it.

Here are some pics of the gauges I am working on. Movado and another forum member are getting the first units and helping me with testing as their contrubutions made it possible to purchase the printer needed to print at the high temps demanded by the nylon/carbon fiber filament this uses. Once the testing is done and they have their final production units, I am going to take orders for any that will want them and will make a separate post about it.

I have learned there is some variation on the vents during the production years of the E70 so I am making two versions, depending on what vent you have. I am making Single, Dual, and triple gauge versions all mounted in the vent with a cam-lock system. Also putting together complete oil pressure gauge kits with a a circuit that interfaces with the factory oil pressure switch connection and allows you to select what pressure the warning will go off (stock is a very low 7psi) I 3d scanned everything so fits snug on the dash and creates the illusion they are mounted to the dash directly without any mods to the dash itself.

Ya will keep an eye on the AFRs. I always log.

As for the vents, that looks pretty awesome..I would be in for the single pod (plan to use it for the meth gauge).

You will want to use 2.25" Clamp (x4) on Turbo to Charge pipe Silicone hose and 2.5" clamp (x4) on Charge pipe to Intercooler Silicone hose.
It appears that those sizes will work on the N63 also. turbos and intercoolers appear to be the same size..Correct?

I like those clamps, any links to those?

I'm interested in the 3d printing you say Redneck is offering. I'll PM him to see a list of services. Thanks for letting us know.

Not sure about the sizes as I haven't measured the N63.

As for the clamps I ditched the ones in the pics and just went with thinner worm clamps.

These are too thick and might cause a leak because they sit over the lip.
