Prospective BMW X5 Diesel Owner
Hi all, I'm new to BMW's but not new to diesels. I'm formally a TDI guy.
I'm looking at buying a BMW X5 with 160K miles on it. Car appears to have had some modifications. Sounds like the EGR has been physically disabled with the paperclip mod and a combox modification. Those are the mods I'm aware of. Couple questions: 1. What are common failure points that I may encounter with the high milage? 2. What are some of the things I should pay particular attention to when looking at the car? 3. Can the EGR disable without associated tuning cause reliability problems with that kind of milage? Any help would be great. Milage is high on that one but all the ones I've looked at have high milage which tells me they're pretty reliable cars but you're the experts. |

What year and engine? For us in UK we have both single turbo and twin turbo e70's and also it depends what year E70 as you could have the M57 engine or N57 engine which would change things up a lot,
